The year Covid started, my husband and I tried crab claws at Fiddlers. They were absolutely delicious! We came back today & they were detestable as well as the service. A female not of color with unsanitary dreadlocks told us that if we sat at the bar we would have no wait. As we were waiting at the bar, we noticed that everyone else had water. We weren't offered water as we waited, we weren't updated about our order but we were given the bill to pay before the food came out but I don't pay before I get food at restaurants. Today felt like a racial issue as we were the only patrons with lightly tanned skin and the only ones ignored. What's also interesting is that the female with the unsanitary dreadlocks looked like someone that I wouldn't want handling my food. She looked unclean. She gets an "F" for "foolish & for failure." As we were walking out she said in a very loud voice "Have a great day!" I didn't respond because it was already evaluated that she is pathetic & unhappy with herself so it was no need for me to educate her. She was awarded a tip of zero dollars 💸 and a verbal tip from a V.P. of Human Resources that her behavior today was putrid. Today, I wasn't giving even one Turkish lira. Our crab claws were very few and lacking flavor (except the taste of being freezer burned & odd. Picture also of the difference in quantity compared to a different patron. Same order price. Much less product. I don't like nor support companies that try to cheat or take advantage of certain patrons. We had 1 each of both itemsordered). The Oysters Rockefeller were repulsive as well. (I honestly feel that the oysters were missing because we only had the flavor of 1 oyster in the bunch. It tasted like loads of moldy cheese after eating 2) We didn't have time to go to request our money back. We both ended up with cramping stomachs and diarrhea. We won't ever return. I will be contacting the Health Department tomorrow and we will be dining at better restaurants like The Cotton Exchange on that strip. Their food is amazing and 5 star. I'm in disbelief that Fiddlers hasn't been sued for their seemingly racist service and their horrible food but never say never. Fiddlers obviously has many broken strings now. I should have read reviews first like I normally do but was so focused on getting delicious crab claws but ended up with crab claw sickness or Oysters Rockefeller sickness. I think I read where someone said that parasites were either on their oysters or something else. Needless to say, we won't ever be back. This place should be shut down and whoever supports this twofold unsanitary place in the employees and the food, shame on you as well. My last two thoughts: (1) I am happy that I found God because the way that unsanitary female yelled out to us upon leaving would have been an entirely different situation if God wasn't with me. (2) Spend your hard earned money at professional, nice, flavorful & kind mannered restaurants that serve fresh food and show appreciation for your choice to dine with them; otherwise, you are just throwing hard earned money out of the window. I think people who like this place and haven't gotten sick are so full of Wet Willie's that their stomachs can handle old, freezer burned or spoiled food and got close to the end of the street and stumbled into this joint to quench a hunger pain. Great restaurants in Savannah from a world traveler: Old Pinkhouse, The Cotton Exchange & Savannah Seafood Shack. The pictures below show how many crab claws we each got in comparison to a different patron. Since we both got sick, we now consider it a blessing. 🙏🏻When we walked in and placed our order, the only difference was the skin I am in like Halle Berrys skin. Shame on you for hiring such crumbs Fiddler! Shame on you for acting racist! Shame on you for making us both ill! Shame on you for cheating us with a different portion size! (blessing in disguise though) Shame on you for your pathetic staff minus 2 males that were...
Read moreA lot can be said about the look of a place and it's convenience. But when it comes to food and service, that's what makes a place.
That said, I came to this place almost 10 years ago and loved it. The PO boy and the alligator bites were my go to. I decided to order these when I came this time too and was slightly disappointed when I realized they didn't have their remoulade sauce for the PO boy.. it changed.. this place is not the same.
My wife originally got the steamed crawfish.. we had to send it back because it tasted like swamp mud. I realized later that it wasn't a crawfish boil, and that it was steamed. This honestly should be taken off the menu. Being that it was steamed, they sprinkled Cajun seasoning on top of the crawfish and expected that to add flavor. It didn't even come close to touching the edible part of the crawfish. Absolutely disgusted by this. We also had to wait for some time whenever we needed help with needing our drinks refilled or just had questions about stuff. Our waitress was nowhere to be found. I had to ask other staff for my waitress...
We were hoping for a redemptive plate of food when my wife reordered, getting the mahi tacos BUT were once again surprised to find that they WERE DECONSTRUCTED... Aka, you had to put it together yourself. I'll tell you, when someone's hungry, you don't want to spend extra time putting together a taco... The side components to this were a joke too, shredded cabbage and diced tomatoes that look like what Chipotle grabs their hands in to build your burrito. Not to mention the FLOUR TORTILLAS were hard as a brick. How do you need that up.
This place is in desperate need of...
Read moreWe traveled to Savannah, Georgia for our anniversary to explore the history. We stopped here for our first night's meal, to celebrate a little bit and my wife and I decided to engorge ourselves on some long delayed spectacular meals. We started the meal with some cocktails which were fantastic, but I especially thought that my wife's choice of a cocktail was better than mine. She got the Crab shack cooler cocktail, and the orange flavors definitely make it a very tangy and flavorful cocktail. Cocktail. Both of us had appetizers where my wife was able to enjoy her favored platter of oysters. She had nothing but excited expressions and enjoyed every morsel of oysters that she was delivered. I had the fried pickles, and though they were a small bit salty, they were still enjoyable. My wife got the seafood platter that had the choice of shrimp and crab legs and she could not stop smiling. I had the buffalo shrimp po-boy and it was one of the better Po-Boys I have had in my life, and I grew up around New Orleans. As for the atmosphere, the place is definitely bustling and busy, but there are plenty of smiles all around. Our waitress and the person training with her were both very friendly and easy to communicate with, and did not shy away from some interesting historical facts about the building. They were also very focused and accommodating to our being satisfied with our meal for the entire night. This is definitely a place we will return to in the future, and we hope that our next visit will be just as wonderful as our...
