Based on other reviews.. I went in knowing this was gonna be a hit or miss. Glad it was a hit! I will say.. it’s a simple sandwich for $15 though. Food - we got the lekker spread (chicken curry), the dank sauce wings, and the conquistador sandwich. And of course the iced tea. The lekker spread.. the portions just didn’t make sense. For one spread choice it was $8, which was in a tiny togo ramekin, but then came with red onions, cucumbers, tomatoes, lettuce, and 2 pita breads cut up into 8 triangles. You basically pay for pita bread. It really should be a bigger container of the spread of choice and smaller portions of the pita. Or make them pita chips (not the Stacy’s kind, like actual fried pita bread chips) and a bigger portion of the dip/spread. The wings were really good! Great size wings. Perfectly cooked and I loved the dank sauce (think honey mustard dill). Glad it still came with ranch. The conquistador sandwich, I thoroughly enjoyed this sandwich. The filling was really good, the chicken was not dry at all, the sauce and lettuce & tomato was very fresh. Love the cheeses on there too. The bread was perfectly toasted. The light crispy crunch bread exterior with the still chewy soft bread interior was a perfect balance. And the bread to filling ratios were on point. My only thought is that a chicken Cesar salad on a roll for $15?! I rationalized it in my head by telling myself it’s a very large sandwich and it came with chips. Parking - it’s the downtown area of Savannah so parking is limited. And mostly street parking. We ended up parking in a public lot and paying then walking around. Service - everyone was extremely nice! From our server to another girl checking in on us to the person who directed me to the bathrooms. They brought plenty of napkins knowing we’d need them. Our drinks were refilled timely. Overall great customer service dining experience. It was a beautiful day so we sat on one of the outside tables under the umbrella.

Okay let me be open and honest here, the service is top not and laid back. A weird but effective combo. Mads is mad great and really needs a raise. Shes just wow. Food: I had the Peri Peri Cheese Dip as a starter and I barely got started on them before my Slaap Chips (Old Town Indian Curry Chili) showed up. The spice level was perfect and the portion side is huge. Im staying at the #marshallhouse in the historic Savannah downtown. Ill be bringing home some balcony food to have while i have mamosas on the overlook. People watching just went from great to fantastic with leftovers from #zunzis. Drinks: I had the Hot Rita with my Slaap Chips. Since i had the Old Town Indian Curry Chili version of the Slaap Chips, the Hot Rita was a perfectly hot pairing. From what i understand, they upgraded the tequila. To he honest, i loved the Hot ‘Rita a year and a half ago and i loved it every bit as much this time around two. I trust their judgment on the tequila selection. Overall opinion: can i just say that there is really no reason to not come here on vacation. This is the lunch spot stop for me. 5 star review from this guy. P.S. Seriously, give Mads a heck yea kinda raise. She’s definitely all in on Zunzi’s #zunzis #foodie #food #savannah #vacation #savannahga #riverwalk #Teamwork #southcarolina #booze #liquor #mashallhouse P.S.S. Come on Chris, this girls a gold mine. Give the Mads a raise. Seriously though, totally enjoy Zunzi’s on every visit. Thanks for helping to make my vacation memorable.

I wanted to come back here my second time and love it. We even brought our kids. But while the food is still delicious in this new and improved location, the service was really off. To start. After sitting 10 minutes, we had to ask a passing server who our server was, she mentioned some guy, but grateful she still got us waters…though forgot my drink, which I finally asked for 15 mins later. From sitting to getting our food, it took us 45 minutes. I understand things gets backed up, but no one checked on us that entire time until I finally grabbed another passing server and asked for an update. She went and checked for us. But anytime you have that sort of wait, you should have a server coming by to give you an update. We only ordered two sandwiches. 45 minutes for two sandwiches. And then when the 4th server came by and gave us our bill, he tried to charge us $94 for two sandwiches. We had to show him we were only eating two sandwiches before he changed it. It’s sad. The sandwiches really are good, but it doesn’t feel like this new spot has figured out how to be a sit down café yet.

My husband and I ended up going here for lunch because of all the positive reviews. After having lunch here, let me tell you, it was GOOD and it did not disappoint! We ordered the falafels with ziki sauce, the Conquistador sandwich, and the Bird Island sandwich. First, the falafels were nice and crispy, and it also came in a good portion. The Conquistador was DELICIOUS! They were also very generous with the chicken, so much so that I had to eat some of it with a fork because I couldn't bite into the sandwich. Lol. The Zuni's sauce blended perfectly with the parmesean, and the bread was nice and toasted. 🤌🏽 The Bird Island had a strong curry flavor but not overpowering. The chicken was well cooked and it was very filling. The homade chips are nice and crisp and come with a dipping sauce that was 👌🏽 Finally, from beginning to end, they had GREAT customer service! The host acknowledged us right away and accommodated us with our stroller. Our server Noah was also great and went out of his way to find out what he could recommend to us as tourists.

This place is one of those local legends that everyone has an opinion about. Some people say they make the best sandwiches on earth, some people say they are overrated. Some people will give you a 30 minute speech about how zunzi's sold out, and people don't understand that "old zunzi's" was the best. There's too much noise about this place, and it's hard to know if it's actually good. I think if you just scrape away all the bias and history, the simple fact is this: 1) Their sandwiches are good. And 2) It's overpriced. It's really that simple. Is it the best sandwich ever? No, and i can only assume that people who say this have a severe lack of sandwiches in their lives. But, it is a pretty good sandwich, and there's nothing wrong with that. They also cost like $14-16. Is it worth that price? Absolutely not. At the end of the day, if you want a sandwich that's really pretty good and don't mind paying $15 for a sandwich that should probably cost $10, it's a pretty nice little place.

Cute place to chill and have lunch on a nice day. They have a great menu, I found it hard to decide on just one thing. The South African tea really hits the spot on a hot day! Everyone was very nice and welcoming. My partner ordered a hummus platter and I decided to go with the Bird Island sandwich with the lettuce wrap option instead of bread. You can’t really eat it like a sandwich because it just falls out of the lettuce so it’s more like a salad. The only negative is that it’s a takeout joint so you go to the window to order and they serve you a bag with takeout containers inside. It’s a lot of styrofoam and plastic waste. I’m not sure if this is due to Covid but it would be nice if they had cardboard instead since it’s better for the environment. No one really took their meal to go, everyone sat around the tables outside. So hopefully once Covid has passed they will be able to use reusable meal ware instead of plastic. Great food!
