The first day we ate there our coffee cups were dirty. They had food stuck on the edges of both coffee cups. We sent the coffee back and got new cups which were dirty again! Having no where else to go…We opted to have our coffee in a to go cup. The silverware that was rolled up in a napkin was dirty as well. We asked for new silverware which also came dirty. I pulled a sanitizing hand wipe out of my pocketbook and wiped down the silverware. Day 2- we couldnt find anywhere else close by that was open mid week to go so we chanced it again. The coffee we ordered in the to go cups again. I cleaned the silverware again with my wipes. We ordered our food and the plates were dirty that our food came out on! There was someone elses eggs stuck to the edges of the plate! I asked for a new plate. That plate had dirt all along the rim of the plate! It wasnt only mine but my husbands as well. Being in the restaurant/hotel industry for 40 years I was upset! I called the man who I think was Jimmy over and showed him the dishes. He had a ton of excuses. He denied the plates were dirty! I said look! And I scraped the eggs off of the plate with my fingernail as he watched. He said that the water was 190 degrees so it would kill any germs in the OTHER PERSONS EGGS STUCK TO MY PLATE.!!! First- WHO says that! Second- WHAT???? I told him Ive been a professional chef for 40 yrs and please stop bull sh!tting me. I told him that since covid 19 is all over our country at the moment didnt he think that he should take extra cleanliness precautions? …. In one ear and out the other it went with him. I then showed him the Dirt on the other plate. The waitress was as mortified as we were and kept apologizing. It wasnt her fault. The owner should take a food handlers and sanitation course. Then a cook came out of the kitchen and looked at me where we were sitting outside on the front porch dining area. I knew he was mad so when he went back inside I followed and went to the restroom. I knew he would probably be on a rant in the kitchen….. Anddddd I was right! He was ranting and badmouthing us to the kitchen staff as I stood in the restroom listening to him! The restroom was right next to the kitchen! Bottom line? Dont eat there unless you want to chance getting sick or unless you like to eat other peoples breakfast stuck on the plates, coffee cups and silverware. The health dept should pay him a visit. It is a dirty and disgusting...
Read moreWent here as most publications, reviews, and host of VRBO said it was a local institution and a great place for breakfast. Sadly, our experience was that it may very well have been here for years but it was not at all something I would go back to or recommend. First, it was very empty but it was a Tuesday morning in June so I assumed that was why. Maybe not so much that being the reason. The menu was basic breakfast fare which is what we were after. I got the Western omelette and my girlfriend got French toast. The omelette and home fries had very little flavor and the French toast was not great either. The biggest issue was the place was a bit dirty and my companion was drinking her iced tea and got a staple in her mouth from the tea. The waitress basically just said sorry do you want a new one and nothing else was said or taken off of the bill. Very subpar snd the upkeep very concerning. If this is supposed to be a great breakfast place than an institution in the area, the bar definitely needs to be...
Read moreJimmy’s is a true local experience, you can see that this place has been around for decades and is a popular spot for breakfast.
We went on Labor Day Weekend, on a Sunday at around 9:30am. All of the food and beverages taste like they’re all prepackaged, straight from the grocery store and onto the plate. The orange juice is Tropicana, the ketchup’s 2nd ingredient is high fructose corn syrup, the bread tastes straight out of the pack.
The prices are affordable, but this is definitely not the type of food that is contributing to one’s health in any way. Go for the experience of a local diner, but don’t go if you’re looking for good food.
Also, it doesn’t have any signs that they are “cash only” so be aware. And the ATM fee outside is $5, so better to bring...
