I stumbled across Luke’s Lobster during a casual stroll near pike place & I can say I have never been more thrilled after a walk!
The atmosphere is super laidback, open and family friendly. The hostess “Alex” did a great job making recommendations and she was also super patient as I took time to look at the menu. Upon arrival I did notice how packed the establishment was and initially placed a takeout order. As I headed out some tables became available and I dined in. On my next visit, I’ll be sure to try to visit at a time where they might be less busy to ensure I can dine in!
For my meal, I ordered the 2oz “Luke’s Trio” for $28 which came with a Lobster, Shrimp, and Crab roll. I added the spicy honey butter sauce for $1. The seafood was probably the freshest seafood I’ve ever had. The portions were soo generous that the fillings kept falling out. Everything was cooked perfectly. The seasoning wasn’t overpowering and didn’t take away from the flavor of the actual rolls. The spicy honey butter was chef’s kiss. An absolute must! It complimented the seafood soo well and simply took it to the next level. As I indulged in each roll, I literally kept saying “this one is my favorite” then I tried another and that one became my favorite and so forth. The bread alone was also perfect, it was soft and buttery and had a hint of sweetness! The signature sriracha sauce at the restaurant also tasted great and brought a spicy tangy flavor that I didn’t even know I needed! The trio is a 10/10 must try!
Luke’s also has complimentary chips up for grabs in these cute little baskets and you can take as many as your...
Read moreThe clam chowder was good, and if you need a gluten free chowder, maybe its one of the few places with it.
I liked the crab inside the crab roll, it was fresh. But overall the roll itself was plain (i had the gluten free version), and basically all the fillings were cold and with no extra flavour. Not sure how this place has such a high rating, the food is decent, but way overpriced for what it is. Maybe people in Seattle and tourists are used to these prices and lack of flavour and unique preparation, but i would rather than a 3 course menu at a proper restaurant in Vancouver for $37 USD than 3 cold seafood -filled mini rolls and one small portion of chowder.
I read that Maine lobster is supposed to be "softer" and more delicate than Canadian lobsters, but this was pretty overcooked, so i prefer freshly cooked Canadian lobster over this, which to me, when warm and properly prepared, was softer than this.
There wasn't anything exciting in the lobster taste, it is literally plain boiled lobster taken out and put onto an average tasting buttered roll for u. The sprinkling of whatever seasoning they have on the lobster had a very mild and unmemorable taste.
I would rather buy a whole cooked lobster in Vancouver for the same price (or cheaper) than eat here again.
I ate it just an hour ago and still think about it as chilled seafood rolls. At least the ones in Vancouver actually taste like something.
Also, the whole "throw away your tray yourself" feels like McDonald's level service at fine...
Read moreMy wife and I walked in wanting clam chowder. I’m from LA so I’ve had my share of both good and bad clam chowder. My wife ended up with a crab roll and I got a clam chowder in a sourdough bowl. My wife grew up in Maryland so she knows all about crab—it’s kind of a religious experience for her when she gets to stab her thumbs into a crab shell, rip it open and devour it.
Clam chowder was fantastic. It wasn’t just potatoes with some speckles of clam. It had actual clam in it. Sourdough bowl was amazing. My wife’s crab roll was just bread filled with delicious shredded crab. She said she normally doesn’t see crab rolls and usually it’s a ton of mayo with crab in it. This barely had any mayo—just a slight spread on the roll. Confirmed this was one of the best crab rolls she’s ever had. Just a touch of melted butter and an Old Bay-type seasoning on top inside of a split flat buttered roll. Was delicious.
Staff was super friendly and were excited about the food. Nothing worse than a restaurant where the staff resent the product and ruin the atmosphere—kind of like that feeling of eating at an IHOP. Like, you don’t have to be a corporate bootlicker but at least make me excited to eat.
Anyway, 5/5 would...
