Tiny dessert spot that feels like a pop-up inside a hotel, R&M does not have any seating and the hotel they're in asks you not to eat in the lobby. Very much a dessert takeout spot. Many reviews rave about the fruity options which unfortunately we did not try, so we must return to try them.
Lack of ambiance and environment definitely hurts as they do offer heating up of desserts but you have to find somewhere else to enjoy them. Price also hurts, so despite being very tasty, I found the overall experience average at 3 stars.
While rich and made with care, the desserts can be rather small for their price point. At nearly $10 before tip, each item is very small and easily cupped in your hand. Definitely a spot to wrap up the night but I'd honestly even consider another dessert spot beforehand and then wrap up the night here if anything. Price is very comparable to some fancy restaurant dessert, but it's not a fancy restaurant nor is the presentation necessarily above and beyond because they simply grab the dessert from the case and hand it off.
Dark Chocolate Mousse with cocoa crumbles - tasted just like a classic mousse. Nothing special. Nothing particularly bad or good about this item, just an average dessert.
S'mores Tart - least favorite item, the s'mores tart would be much better heated but we weren't told it was recommended like the triple chocolate cake. The inside had a caramel-like chocolate cream so it was hard to gauge. Would likely pass on this again.
Triple Chocolate Cake - we were told this is much better heated so it was an option. Of course we got it heated to try. It's like a warm brownie with very rich chocolate. My second favorite item of the 4 but collectively we all called it our number two choice.
Tres Leches Cake - the best item of these 4, agreed upon unanimously. Tres leches cakes are soaked in milk and have a spongey texture. This tres leches cake was super rich and creamy. Gentle and light but pleasing to...
Read moreI’m sorry but I just have to write A review off of principle. My family and I wanted to try a new dessert place out so we looked up close ones to where we were…I will not be going back to the place due to the simple fact that the guy helping me was so cold and condescending. He literally told me “it says right there” when I asked what the most popular desserts were. He seemed bothered by our presence and annoyed because we got close to the door frame and there’s only two people allowed at once. Which is fine but come on, we aren’t trying To be disrespectful and crowd we were excited about getting dessert. It was a major vibe kill.. Anyways after he rudely told us to basically back up. We realized he was so annoyed with this pandemic and rules he was very over aggressive about it. This just isn’t a positive way to run a business.
I found out this guy was the owner!
I love supporting small businesses as I have my own but I would never want to make a costumer feel un wanted or like their business doesn’t matter to me. I hope they can figure out another method, maybe get some more employees to help out, maybe their tired.
Crazy to think someone trying to have some positive retention and would treat people so rude and uninviting. I did end up purchasing 3 desserts for my family but this will be the last time ,it’s hard to enjoy something that you can get else where just as tasty and for way better experience/quality, for no hassle or vibe kill. I’ve read other reviews and it seems to be a pattern so obviously theres a problem here. I heard pie bar down the street is amazing so next time I’ll drive 20 minutes to the place instead...
Read moreDelicious - well & truly worth a visit.
After returning to our hotel at the end of our evening with family. Late night desert sounded like a good idea. Fortunately Google returned this place as a result and, after reading all the positive reviews, and that one weird one about posture of the baker, we decided to walk up and check it out.
So glad we did. Firstly I counted the tables (there are three). Following the counting, I set myself to the task of trying to choose my desert from the delicious looking options in the display.
We made our choices (there were 3 of us). We had some very friendly and comical interactions with the two awesome owners and then took the deserts back to our hotel.
The deserts were far better than we expected, to the point we seriously thought about walking back for more.
It is obvious to me that the owners of this establishment, both present during our visit, take a good deal of pride in providing you with exactly what you need for that finishing touch to your evening.
Don't panic about the number of tables. When we got there (22:10) 4 people were sitting around one table (obviously enjoying their deserts) the other two tables were empty.
Leave the stress about the number of tables to the owners, that's their job. Show up and eat up. You will not be disappointed - unless of course you are some snotty brat that might complain that the owners will not pick your desert for you. The owners can worry about the number of tables, you have to make your own decisions on...
