Last week, my sister and brother-in-law visited the restaurant. Upon arrival, they found a table and sat down, but no one acknowledged their presence. A few minutes later, another couple entered the restaurant and were immediately greeted by a staff member. The host gave the couple a menu and started taking their order while my sister and brother-in-law were sitting next to them. No one acknowledged them. When my sister approached the host, she asked if they could take their order. The host said no, they had to wait because they were busy, even though there was no one else in the restaurant. It was early, around 11:00 in the morning. My sister asked what she needed to do, and the host said to put their name on the list and they would take their order when they got to it. My sister asked if she was supposed to walk around until they called her, and the host just gave her a look. At that moment, my sister became upset. They were visiting from Mexico, and I believe they were discriminated against because of their skin color. I do not want to think that they were discriminated against because they were Mexican, but it is important to remember that not all Mexicans are poor. It is very disappointing that in this day and age, we still have ignorant people. I am very disappointed because we recommended this restaurant to my sister and brother-in-law, hoping that they would receive the same service that we did. I do not know if the host or the staff need to be trained in customer service or if they need to be trained to work with people in general. I rate this restaurant a 1 star. I wish I knew who the owner was so that I could contact them via email. I have a lot more to explain about how the staff ruined my...
Read moreSome advice: Please speak slowly and clearly when ordering AND double check your order before it goes to the kitchen. I say this because if the waitress writes it down incorrectly, you will be charged for it, as it is not THEIR mistake. That's their "policy" according to the manager.
So, my friend orders a tri tip sandwich (comes with their chili and salsa on a French roll) BUT she received a top sirloin, which literally was a chunk of dry meat on top of half of a French roll. That's it. We brought the mistake to the attention of the waitress right away. She stated that this is what my friend ordered. No, ma'am. She took the plate of food to the manager and came back and told my friend if she could just eat this as she set down the plate.
When paying, I walked up to the manager and asked her if she was the one who told the waitress to return the food back to us. She said yes because the waitress wrote down exactly as ordered. I said, so you are telling me that my friend did not order exactly she actually wanted? The manager said correct. WHAT???? The manager then went on to say that due to their "policy" and, if my friend had returned it, she would have to pay for both the tri tip and top sirloin because it was not their mistake. OMG.
I would NOT recommend this place. The food was not great, the manager is terrible (and I think really likes the word policy, especially as an excuse), and do you really want to go to a place that the customer is always wrong?

Read moreThe picture I posted of this restaurant is quite good. They should use it in their promotional materials because it is so inviting, it makes coming here seem like a must. Like Einstein and the atomic bomb, I regret my contribution.
We dined outside on a stunning day in Solvang. I ordered a crepe with fresh crabmeat and a light sauce. My companion ordered a bacon cheeseburger. We stood inside the restaurant for several minutes watching the hostess read a newspaper with her back to us. I softly spoke up and asked if we were to just seat ourselves. We brushed this off. After all, it's Solvang. Things are a little slower-paced here.
After being seated outside st our request, our server approached and asked if we were ready to order. (I'm sorry, I don't think I wrote that accurately. Let me try again.) As our server placed our menus in front of us, she asked if we were ready to order. "What happened to Solvang-pace?" we wondered. She graciously gave us a minute to look at the menu.
The crepe was beige. As was the sauce. In fact it not only looked beige, it tasted beige. If you wonder what beige tastes like, by all means go here and order the crab crepe. Tell all your friends, "I tasted beige!"
The fries served with my friends burgers were quite delicious. I ended up eating most of them. Beige just isn't...
