VERY RUDE GROUP OF PEOPLE. I would recommend not visiting this store and spending your money else where. There are so many other friendlier ice cream and drink shops you can go to. And more than likely you will have a better chance of continuing your Pleasant day in Solvang. When I first walked in I truly wasn't expecting to walk out with the experience that happened to me. It was my first time there and I noticed that they would give you your food and then have you pay.. so I was helped and then was handed my items. I had gotten a double scoop ice cream for my sister, ice tea for my grandmother, and shaved ice for myself. The girl who helped me was very kind and friendly. But i could tell that she was just an employee and not related to the 3 owners that were there that day(one female and two males) I'm guessing one of the men is named Sam based off of the other comments I have read. So now I'm waiting to pay. My sister had already started to eat her ice cream, my shaved ice was starting to melt, and my grandma's ice tea was starting to water down. A gentlemen came in and they had helped him. Still no service. It had been about 4 min when i finally made a joke out loud saying "so i guess it's free?" and then laughed. Take in mind this whole time i had my card in my hand. I don't think the owners liked the joke based off of the look they gave me. Finally the lady owner started to help me. I'm getting ready to hand her the card and then one of the males comes out to bring food and I'm pretty sure if I wouldn't have said "excuse me" he would have kept on walking through and bumped my breasts with his chest. I literally just wanted to pay for my food and get out of there. But that was last straw. I said "you know what I don't want the stuff" I said "you guys have been completely rude to me and all I was trying to do was give you my money." First the guy told me to take the items. Then i noticed the lady owner eye ball me so i said "really your still going to be rude to me" that's when the guy blew up. He got so nasty. He told me "get out we don't need people like you coming into our city" "we're better off with out you" now i really don't know what he meant by "people like you". Because I wasn't stealing and i was not being rude to them. At that point i walked out with my little sister. So did the gentleman who had just ordered. I was so upset walking out that I started to tell mt grandma what had just happened. The owner guy walks out to bring the gentleman his drink. The gentlemen told the owner that he was "extremely rude to me and he needed to give me an apology" the owner refused and the gentleman refused the drink. But the owner told him just to keep it. All in all it was a horrible experience and i wish i would have just walked a little bit further instead of walking into this place. Read moreThis coffee/dessert shop is located in Solvang, CA along with some restaurants in the same complex. They offer varieties of desserts, varieties of Gelato and ice cream flavors, as well as coffees and teas. First thing I noticed was, there are NO price labels on their desserts, and same goes with their Gelato and ice cream (McConnel's) stations. They all look so good, don't get me wrong -- but the bad part was, when my choices of desserts (and 2 cups of coffees) were rung by the staff, it totalled to $92.22!!! What a rip off!!! No wonder they didn't put the price labels on the glass displays coz people probably would get overwhelmed for the price of each and won't buy any! If it wasn't too embarrassing, I would most likely have changed my mind and returned 2 or 3 of the other desserts that I chose just to lower my bill, but since it was already packed, and people are waiting in line, I just went ahead and paid for it all. By the way, we live in L.A. and so the travel is about 2.5 hours and the staff didn't even put all of the desserts I got in a better to-go container. They were all placed in a tray-like open "boat" container then kept in a regular plastic bag. For the price I paid, those desserts should at least be kept in a closed container. I also have to ask for my receipt (which they don't readily give out) coz I wanted to see what is the price for each of my order why I paid THAT much!
I completely understand the situation everywhere nowadays (specifically, inflation) and as a tourist destination, this area is considerably expensive -- but the prices of those desserts shouldn't have been so outrageous, that you'd just be surprised once all your orders/choices...
Read moreI had the worst experience here, the person who took my order was extremely rude to me, he seemed to be the owner of this restaurant. When I ordered, he wasn't polite and sounded like he didn't want to be working there. He also was texting while taking my order and wasn't paying attention. I ordered something from the menu, and the ingredients of what I got were stated on the menu. When I got my food, there was an ingredient in there that I'm very allergic to, but wasn't stated on the menu. When I tried to go back and ask if they could remake the food, I was told that they couldn't take it back. I told him that the ingredient I was allergic to wasn't on the menu for what was in the bowl, and said that he didn't care and that he wouldn't take it back. When I complained that I didn't get what I paid for and that the menu was deceived, he kept yelling that he didn't care and that I should just get out. I wasn't even able to get a refund, despite not being able to eat the food. He had said that he "wasn't going to rewrite the menu for one little ingredient", even though one ingredient could kill someone. If you're running a restaurant, you should be aware of how serious allergies are and how important it is to be careful. There was another worker who had apologized for the owner's attitude and said that they'd remake it, but was scared of what the owner would do if they had done anything. If you have any allergies, I would highly recommend not coming here. The food is overpriced and the owner is rude and doesn't care about his customers or allergies that could potentially be deadly.
