Although this is not food related, still have to be addressed. We never tasted any of the food in this place, what happened was my daughter was trying to get the family seated 9 adults, a baby and a toddler. There was this young blond hair male told my daughter he will have a table in 10 minutes and never bothered to tell her where can she wait when called, so she was standing on the reception area, when a female staff asked my daughter if she’s being help, before my daughter could answer, the same blond guy came charging and reprimanding my daughter telling her ‘didn’t i tell you to wait 10 minutes’ my daughter explained to him that she was just responding to the staff’s inquiry, he automatically assumed that my daughter is being a pest and trying to bug staff for a table, so my daughter asked why he is upset and annoyed even the female staff was telling him to kinda chill and she was the one who was talking to my daughter trying to pacify him, eventually he told my daughter to go outside and wait, now by this time my daughter is very upset, i told her let’s just go forget about the place, she went back into the reception area and asked for the guy’s name, he said he is the owner and we will not be seated. This saddens me the guy is obviously power tripping, he didn’t have to treat us this way, We are from las vegas we went to California for a small family reunion, we were overjoyed visiting Solvang this little incident dampened the happy spirit of my daughter, son , and my grandchildren and great grandchildren. My only consolation was reading through the reviews, that i realized it’s not just us, one review said - they were family of 9 was asked to wait 20 minutes only to find out that the place do not like to accommodate large group, another review saying the restaurant is very discriminatory to Asian people they were not seated FYI we are asians, one more review saying ‘ coming from manager/ owner mouth they are serving the locals not the tourists. To sum up the experience we just went through a process of elimination that’s why we didn’t get seated. And it saved us from spending our hard earned money to an establishment who do not care for people, no respect and mostly no...
Read moreWorst burger I have had all year. It was either microwaved or partially cooked then heated up some artificial way. It has that microwave taste and is served burning hot. I have had hundreds or burgers right of a grill and bbq and a hot burger is good, this was fresh-out-of-the microwave-for-way-too-long-burn-your-hands-to-touch temperature. The bun flaked apart in about a minute. The taste was so bad, I had to drown it in thousand island to choke it down, my kids would t touch theirs. The fries were flavorless (I’ll take that over the terrible taste of the burger. At the end my wife and I were just looking for something to get the taste out of our mouths. The service was great however, we had an amazing waitress. The management lied to us about a “service charge” that ended up on our bill. When I questioned them, I was told it was a tip for the cooks. I replied I never heard of a forced tipped for cooks and have never had a restaurant do that before. I was told “all the restaurants around here do.” I asked which and got “just a lot of them”. I asked the supervisor to name one and was told “I don’t personally go to the restaurants around here so I dont know the names but they all do”. So I received an answer that was a total lie to a made up charge. We ate/have eaten at others and I can assure you, they do not. I have my own thoughts about why they do this, but since I can’t confirm them I will leave it at just the facts and not speculate. In the end they did refund the “service charge” which we left for the waitress,. This along with the food is the reason this rating is the lowest I have ever given...
Read moreI recently visited Chomp in Solvang, and while the location is undeniably good, my overall experience was quite average. The restaurant is situated in a charming area, which adds to its appeal, but unfortunately, that’s where the excitement ends.
Upon arriving, I was greeted by the front desk staff, who were perfectly fine but didn’t go above and beyond to make the experience memorable. The cleanliness of the tables and amenities was commendable, which is always a plus in any dining establishment. However, the food left much to be desired.
I decided to try a few different items from the menu. I ordered the chicken tenders, tomato soup, and ravioli pasta. The chicken tenders and fries were decent; they had a nice crunch and were cooked well. However, the tomato soup was rather unremarkable. It was served with two packs of biscuits (four in total), which were of very low quality and didn’t complement the soup at all. In fact, I think it would have been better if they hadn’t included them at all.
As for the ravioli pasta, it was just okay—nothing special or exciting about it. I also ventured to try their kombucha drink, which I found quite unappealing and wouldn't consider ordering again in the future.
Overall, while Chomp benefits from its location in Solvang—a place known for its good vibes—the food does not live up to expectations. There’s nothing particularly thrilling about the menu or the dining experience that would entice me to return. It’s a place where you can grab a meal if you’re nearby, but I wouldn’t recommend going out of...
