It was a sunny afternoon in July. I was around eight at the time when my father took me and my brother to Harmons. It was like any other trip there, we would get flowers for my mother. As I thought we were going home, my father turned right into the McDonalds, Longhorn, Buffalo Wild wing and Olive garden area. My brother and I got excited.
We then took another left, into the McDonalds parking lot. The food always gave me a stomach ache, but it was the play place I loved so dearly.
We walked up to the line and I said," I'll get a Kids meal with nuggets and sprite." After that, my brother ordered and we ran to the play place. There was the beautiful basketball hoop that never had basketballs for us to play with.
We saw a kid younger than us with a laptop and he was playing Minecaft on the play place. That kid was cool. I met some new friends I would never see again. They probably never think about me. That play place gave me hope, joy and excitement. I made so many memories jumping up and down on the huge fake xylophone.
It would play sounds. Sounds that I will never forget. Like, Du du duah da dah. Aah, those were the days.
But then, one day, I looked over at the McDonalds and I saw they were doing construction inside of the play place. Im now older and I have made other memories that will last longer but seeing the old play equipment being replaced made my heart shatter...
But the BBQ sauce with nuggets is...
Read moreAll we wanted were 2 big Mac meals... My husband and I thought we would pick up a fast lunch so we could get home after running an errand and get to work on something pressing. I checked the app and it would have been about $14 total including tax but the app would not allow me to order diet coke so we decided to just go through the drive through. We ordered. We get to the window to pay and the boy was training. I genuinely do not blame him for the fiasco to follow. He was training and brand new. The boy training the new kid needs training also. I believe he was doing the best he could too. The boy training the new kid said that we could substitute our drink with a slushee since the drink machine was broken. I asked if it would be the same price as the drink and was told yes. Then my husband asked if it would be cheaper to just get the big Mac and fries with no drink and we were told no. There was more but this is getting lengthy so I'll just say that we got to the window to pick up our food and then we looked at the receipt and realized we had to pay $20.31. We could have almost just gone to a sit down restaurant and gotten a burger and fries there for almost the same price. And our food was cold but we were so angry and stretched for time that we couldn't go back to the McDonald's to try to...
Read moreIt's McDonald's, what can you say? This location has long wait times, even at 3 a.m., which is a bit frustrating. When you have to wait 15 minutes for a burger and fries at a fast food joint, it can be a bit frustrating.
The other complaint, and this isn't location based, is that the Big Mac is no longer big, it should be rebranded as the Little Mac as it has most certainly shrink in size. Now, don't get me wrong, I totally understand why they did this. Food, location, and employee costs have all risen significantly. They have already raised the price of a Big Mac meal and cannot do much more before the public stops paying, so the only other way to make a profit is to reduce portion sizes. While I understand this, they really should change the branding of it and not continue to market it as something it was in the past. Maybe just call it the Mac. Small thing, but when you don't eat at McDonald's often, because let's be honest, the quality isn't exactly what anyone would refer to as gourmet, you go there for consistency expecting a certain item to be the same as the last time you had it. When it is roughly 35% smaller than in the past, it loses its appeal.
McDonald's, I totally understand the need to stay profitable, but change your marketing to correlate with the changes in...
