Raising Cane's (clever play on words btw) is a fun, contemporary, and trendy restaurant that is constantly packed, ready to serve their southern-style fried chicken fingers. But does the hype live up to it's name?
POSITIVES: The aura is inviting and modern. The staff are incredibly friendly from the time they greet you inside, to the time they hold the door to give a pleasant farewell. Despite having ridiculously long lines, we found them to be very efficient (which is honestly most likely due to their simple menu-- they're just constantly cranking out the chicken fingers).
I actually loved their house sauce! The best way to describe it is a very peppery fry sauce. Frankly, I felt that it was the saving grace for their chicken. The Texas Toast was unlike any other I've had... It was a pillowy-soft strip of bread topped with sesame seeds-- great texture, awesome flavor. Lastly, their chicken: well-crisped, very juicy, and sizable. They done the texture just right, my only qualm is with the flavor, but that brings me to the negatives...
NEGATIVES: unlike most chicken places that will supply you with endless sauce, here they will charge you for extra and you typically only get 1 with a combo (unless you order the Caniac!) While the texture of the chicken was amazingly juicy and crispy, the flavor was lackluster and pretty much requires that you eat it with your limited quantity sauce. I had to order extra to eat it with my fries. Heads up, the chicken sandwich combo doesn't come with a side of sauce since they put it on the sandwich for you.
The side of coleslaw was nothing to write home about. Also, the crinkle-cut fries were about as good as ones you'd find in the frozen aisle of a grocery store, so that was a bit of a let down. I appreciate the simplicity of the menu, but was a little disappointed in their lack of desserts. No cookies, no milkshakes, nothing... Except for more fry sauce, best dessert right? That's how they getcha.
PRICE: about $8-12 per person.
RECOMMENDED: I ordered the Chicken Sandwich, which was fantastic. I preferred that over the chicken fingers (my wife ordered a Box Combo).
Overall, it's definitely worth a shot. Take a date here, or come have a family dinner. Enjoy the nice decor of Peanuts characters (at least right now) and the amicable service, with some decent fast food! It may just be enough to satisfy anyone's desire to get their...
Read moreThis is a chicken tender place pure and simple. If you love chicken tenders you will probably love this place. If there is one positive for the crazy lines that have been queuing up for this place is the food is very fresh and comes out piping hot. I don't know if that will be the case when the lines die down, but we will see. For me the chicken tenders were good, but they were just basic chicken tenders. The meat was very moist and flavorful, but the breading was underwhelming. It wasn't bad, it just wasn't great. My wife and I agree that KFC has superior breading, take that how you like, I am not saying that KFC is the best either. If you want selection go somewhere else. If you want chicken tenders this place is pretty good. Since I don't often order chicken tenders I can't really tell you how they compare to other places, but they are good enough that I will probably go back. Also I bought these for the whole family of 6 and everyone seemed happy with their food. The Cane Sauce is fine, I don't know that it is any better or worse than most sauces you can get. The Crinkle Cut Fries were also surprisingly good, considering I don't think I have ever had a crinkle cut fry that I thought was good. My wife also agreed that when she saw them she didn't expect them to be very good, but was surprised. Are they any better than other fast food fries, I don't know. Better than Carl's Jr. Not as good as Crown/Apollo/Astro Burger. Probably on par with the rest. The service was friendly (maybe overly so). The man who took my order used my name at the beginning and end of every sentence, I couldn't tell if he was trying to be overly hospitable or mocking me. Service was very fast considering the long line. Definitely worth trying and a must for chicken tender lovers. A tip, the 25 piece Tailgate platter it is actually more expensive than just ordering 25 chicken tenders. You could actually buy 26 chicken tenders for less than the 25...
Read moreSimon was the manager and life of this location and he recently quit. I have been a regular customer for a long time now and I came in and was greeted by a kind young man. However, the new manager her name is Shayla, she was very rude and I will not be returning to this location ever again due to her treating me the way she did today. Not only have all my orders via DoorDash recently been awful and incorrect, not even the correct order delivered, but the quality of the chicken here has changed and is just basically an overpriced Harmons chicken tender. Typically I get as much sauce as I request and then some via DoorDash but today was different. Shayla yelled at me from the back of the store in the cook line while I am talking to another employee asking for sauce, stating I was more than happy to pay, and Shayla yells at me from the back “we charge for sauce” in a rude and condescending tone. I replied “ I said I was happy to pay for it” and she just smirked at me and handed the sauce to the employee I was speaking to. Might I add, coming in today my order was also incorrect and when I went and said something about it Shayla came to the counter and laughed, aggressively grabbed the incorrect item from my bag and shoved the correct item into the bag and walked away.
I am a retail business owner and in food and beverage as well and this level is disrespect and “customer service” is inappropriate.
I will never return here. She should be fired and Simon should be rehired immediately.
I easily spend 50$ or more per visit as I opt for the tailgate typically.
Save your money and go to another location. South Jordan is being ran by someone who doesn’t give a crap about the very people who pay her bills. The CUSTOMERS. atrocious behavior. She should be...
