We were there for day 2 of their new dinner service. We really enjoyed the drinks and the food. Portions are generous and felt in line with the price, if not feeling a little 'pricey' to us. Everything appeared very fresh and had great flavor. We sat on the bar and had excellent interactions with the bartenders. Following are more details on what we had:
Bloody Mary: Very distinctive custom mix. My wife does not care for spicy, but this has some heat to it, yet there was a sweetness in there that kept her having some after she gave it to me.
Old Fashioned: The house old fashioned had a nice twist with mole bitters that added a deeper flavor profile to it.
Guac and Chips: The guac was very good. It was very light, almost as if it had been whipped. could have used a few more of the toppings (corn, onion, cotjia cheese) so that you got more of the with all the bites. Chips were excellent.
Fish Tacos: Fantastic. Lightly battered walleye and lots of flavor.
Mango Seafood Ceviche: I love ceviche and I think my prior expectations did not fully match their take on it. My issue was that both the shrimp and the red snapper were super chopped/almost shredded. For me it was really a textural thing as the only cubed bits were the mango and onion. It was a LOT of fish, but it looked a bit like a blob in the bowl, not cubed/diced pieces of vegetable and fish that I am accustomed to. It also had a number of pieces of the red snapper that were not well chopped/shredded and we dense/chewy like it was not cleaned properly. Also had a bit of a fishy smell to it that I was not expecting. I think a revised approach to a small chop, not a full on shred, and properly cleaned fish would have gotten me to the 5-star mark.
Overall, we really enjoyed it. Saw the 2-person platters going out and they looked delicious. Will...
Read moreI was very excited to check this place out, so much so I convinced my wife and friends to go for dinner tonight.
We ordered the ‘Surf and Turf for 2’ which was $80. The food was incredibly mediocre at best. The tiger prawn was very chewy and offered little to no taste, the steak was very dry and also had little to no seasoning, the plantains were very cold, and the chicken was dry. For $80, I was expecting something incredible, especially since it was one of their main dinner options. Very disappointing.
Service was very slow. Initially they brought out the wrong meal, no big deal - mistakes happen, but after that screw up our waitress very rarely visited our table. Drinks went dry, no check ups, nothing.
Bill was $140 total (no alcohol) this was an appetizer + our main course. I have had better food from a drive thru…. Very disappointed, hopefully they change...
Read moreWhat a fantastic new place in Stillwater! We were in town for a date night and were planning to go somewhere else, but walking along the river we saw the "Now Open!" sign and the menu and location on the river drew us in. We are so glad we went here! They have only been open for a couple of weeks but you wouldn't have known it based on how perfect the entire service went. After a short 20 minute wait for our table (they told us this and the time was accurate!), our server Heather took care of us the rest of the night. Food was out in a reasonable time and WOW was it delicious. We decided to share the Parrilladas and it is hands down one of the best thing I've ever eaten. The variety of foods we got to try was fantastic and every thing was delicious. We were too full for dessert, but the options all looked amazing. Stop in, you...
