First of all, when entering the building, the doorman checked ID and my bag and he was respectful and it was nice seeing someone follow the rules without being over bearing. The problem started as soon as i sat down. The bartender, who happened to be so full of himself immediately made comments about my bag and ignored me. When he finaly decided to come over and ask what i wanted, direct and as though i was wasting his time, he made slick comments. He was so into the 5 girls at the bar, asking them if they were single and all about them, he barely noticed the other few people waiting for drinks. Immediately awful. I've managed a couple restaurants so attention to detail is a thing I have become in tuned to. In addition to owning a company, ive seen all sorts of lacking individuals. The bartender wore a hat with dark hair and a beard. He kept saying things about me and making jokes as though it was ok. I even overheard him saying things to the other bartender who took his place regarding me and when i asked him about it, he pretended it was a joke. Then asked me to cash out so i can tip him before he leaves. Pathetic. He was drinking with the girls at the bar, doing shots like he was a patron and not the bartender. Later his girlfriend came in and sat at the bar and hung out. Can you guess if she got a bill? You know she didnt. The date was November 26th, Sunday, at roughly 4pm. If management checks, they will surely know what self centered, egotistical mistake was working. It's sad, because the atmosphere in the place was spot on and welcomed the warmness that social drinking invites. Sadly, it was a complete flop. I visit other bars in the area and they were all very good. I hope there is something to be learned from an inconsiderate employee. Ruins relationships with potential customers. Something that I've learned over time running restaurants, for every good experience, you'll be lucky if that person tells 2 or 4 people. For every bad experience, that person often tells 10 or more people. The world pays attention to the bad and barely recognizes the good things. Understand the social circle of hierarchy that this bartender seems to think exists here. I know, it sounds funny because all he does for a living is pour liquor and polish table tops. I hope he someday learns how to be a man and have sincerity in his dealings with the public. He's a little too old to flirt with every girl that...
Read moreMy man and I was visiting Florida and wanted to experience the nightlife. We stumbled on Franklin 511. We where going to another night club and it was 18 and older. I said no I am not paying $50 to party with kids. We walked the area and found Franklin 511. It was 23 and older so I was okay with that. Security checked our IDs and we walked in. I am so glad we did. As we entered they were playing Sexxy Red and Drake. I was like okay because im from STL. The DJ was also from STL. He playing all types of music which I enjoyed. The place was small and packed but the atmosphere was good. Everyone was having a good Ole time. No fights just peer fun. The margaritas was on point. I love a good margarita. I didn't get any food so I cannot comment on it. We did not stay that long because we are old(hahah). We left around 1 am. Im glad we stumbled upon Franklin 511. My man had a great time for his birthday. I haven't seen him dance that much before. If you are visiting Tampa and in your late thirties and still like to party go to Franklin. We went on a Saturday night. Thank...
Read moreAwesome staff except the bar manager - he has a giant ego (very arrogant - seems to be a common theme here) and with terrible listening skills. And this place has awesome happy hour food and drink prices so long as you only eat apps and drink beer or wine - these items have inflated prices but remain affordable from 3-6. As you would imagine they are inflating the prices of their other items too, and they will stick it to you on the liquor drinks be assured of this.
One more thing folks, don’t let the good reviews fool you, they are trading drinks for getting 5 stars. This is really happening! Open your eyes and you can see the literal bar signs for yourself.
Why you should think twice: happy hour price gaming, an arrogant culture (based on the other reviews there are many others like this), and buying their ratings makes for a questionable business. Should we patronize such a self-important place? Never...
