For those wondering how this concept works: -Each plate is $3.50. Once you eat off the plate, you insert it into the drop down bin at the edge of your table, and the screen up top (see my pictures) counts the plates to make your total. -You can use the screen to order some rolls and your drinks. -Your drinks are initially brought over on a robot - For refills, you have to press "Call Server" on your screen. -The screen displays a fun animation 5 plates in, and then every 5 after that. -There is a keychain toy that drops at 15 plates, and then again at 25. It's fun for kids!
The concept is great, however...
We read the top reviews before going here which call this restaurant out for being a "fun" place, and so we thought we'd give it a try...we regret doing so.
When you walk in, you check in on a tablet, which spits out a ticket for you to hold while waiting - The hostess then calls your "number" when a table is ready, "123, table ready!"
We were seated at the very back booth, which is the last table to see the revolving sushi belt before it goes to the back kitchen. Needless to say, we did not take very many plates as they were all empty! Make sure you ask for a good spot... See my pictures.
Additionally, while we were eating, two staff members came from the kitchen to the dining room having a full on conversation about doing something shady to the food and the "guests will never know". What in the heck is that all about? Even if this is an innocent conversation about something, why would you have this as you're walking into the dining room where the guests are?
We ordered from the screen at the table (it is mounted up top so you have to reach for it), which was a little weird to reach up to for someone with a shoulder strain, and the food was never served in a timely manner. In fact, the table behind us complained multiple times they never received their food even though the screen said it was delivered!
When you are ready to pay at the end, you press, "Checkout," on your screen. It gives you two options: Mobile pay or server pay. We chose server pay. I had my debit card in hand, holding it out to the server, who promptly dropped the check on the table without saying a word, and quickly walked away. I grabbed the check and my debit card, and chased her down to pay the bill.
We do not think we will be dining here again as the service and lack of food is not worth...
Read moreVisited on Monday, July 14th, around lunchtime with a party of five. From the outside, Kura Sushi is pretty nondescript — nothing flashy, and that’s absolutely okay. Once inside, the layout is clean and minimalist, with booths and single seating available. We were greeted and seated within a reasonable time, and the staff were genuinely friendly.
Now here’s the key thing to know: this is a highly automated dining experience — and it’s actually a lot of fun. Aside from seating and the occasional check-in, staff interaction is minimal by design. You order drinks from a touchscreen at your booth, and a robot brings them to your table. Food comes by on a rotating conveyor belt stocked with a wide variety of fresh nigiri, sushi, desserts, and more. There’s also an on-demand menu (accessible from the same screen) if you want to order specific items like soup, crab claws, or mochi ice cream. These special orders are delivered by a fast-moving belt that announces their arrival with a little “train station” ding — a quirky and delightful touch.
The quality of the food was impressive. Even with so many items rotating through, we never saw anything that looked old or tired. The belt is regularly restocked with fresh options, and the variety is broad enough to satisfy both adventurous eaters and those with simpler tastes.
One of the most fun and unique features? As you finish a plate, you drop it into a slot at your table, which not only tallies your bill and keeps your table clean, but also triggers a game-like experience. Every 15 plates (and every 10 thereafter), a video plays and a surprise prize drops down into a collection bin. Our group collected a handful of adorable sushi-themed charms — a great reward for a full stomach!
The final surprise? The bathrooms — decked out with Japanese-style toilets featuring heated seats, bidet options, and various controls. A small but memorable detail that adds to the overall experience, especially for those who haven’t traveled to Japan.
Yes, our bill was hefty (we polished off 66 plates and several à la carte items), but the experience, quality, and variety made it absolutely worth it. This is a fantastic way to try lots of different sushi types without committing to full rolls. I’d rate this a solid 10/10 and highly recommend it to anyone — especially if you’re looking for a fun, unique, and family-friendly sushi experience in...
Read moreIf I could give this place 10 stars, I would — hands down one of the most fun, family-friendly, and affordable dining experiences we’ve had in a long time. It honestly felt like something out of a movie. From the moment we walked in, we were all smiling. It’s the perfect spot for kids, but adults will love it too.
First off, the vibe: super clean, bright, and welcoming, with plenty of parking outside (which is always a relief when you’ve got kids or a group). The staff was so kind, patient, and attentive — you can tell they truly care about making your visit great from start to finish.
But here’s where it gets fun: You order everything from a tablet at your table as you go — no pressure to decide everything up front. Dishes come flying out right to your seat, and there’s also this super fun rotating sushi belt that loops around the restaurant with all kinds of options — sushi, hot food, desserts, snacks, drinks, you name it. You can just grab whatever looks good as it rolls by. My kids thought this was the coolest thing ever.
And yes… THERE’S A ROBOT THAT SERVES YOUR FOOD. A literal robot rolls up to your table with trays of food like it’s the future. The kids were obsessed, and honestly, so was I. It makes the whole experience feel more like a theme park than just a dinner out — and yet somehow, it’s all incredibly affordable.
Now let’s talk sushi — because I’m very picky, and it was amazing. Everything was fresh, well-made, and delicious. Tons of variety, beautiful presentation, and so many fun little desserts and treats to finish off the meal. We tried a little bit of everything and still couldn’t believe how cheap the bill was at the end. You can absolutely go all out here without breaking the bank.
Bottom line: this is a hidden gem and one of the best, most memorable meals we’ve had in a while. Fun for the whole family, totally unique, and budget-friendly — we’ll absolutely be going back (and bringing friends with us next time). Highly recommend to anyone looking for something different, easy, and...
