After moving from Atlanta, Georgia, my husband and I were delighted that there was a LongHorn Steakhouse in Tifton! Because it was near our home, I had stopped going to it because of the service and the food. The steaks or pork chops were tough or raw (red/cold.)
As I explained this to our server, she switched hips, exhaled loudly, and rolled her eyes. It was as if we were bothering her. My husband did question why we didn't get the lunch menu, as it was 2:30 pm; she said, "Yeah, technically, it is lunch, but we hand out dinner menus at 3 pm." So we went with the dinner menu because she already seemed "put off" that we were there. As she took our order, drinks weren't asked about until the end of the order as an afterthought. We weren't asked if we wanted an appetizer. However, my husband did order a salad with his meal.
Our drinks arrived right before our meal. Then, maybe a minute later, she brought us our meals and the cutting board with the bread and butter, which was placed on the table on top of the bread plates.
The bread was squished down on one side and barely warm, more so cold because the butter wouldn't spread easily. She never returned to the table to ask if everything was okay because I would have told her my husband didn't get his salad. Not having to wait until she was talking loudly to the table in front of us, I learned she was in the back, making salads. When she walked past us to the table behind us, I said, "Ma'am, my husband didn't get his salad." Again, the eye roll, and she said, "I'll be right back." That was after she asked the table behind us if they needed anything.
A minute later, she returned with said side salad; there was a handful of lettuce, a few diced tomatoes, and ranch dressing poured all over his salad (not on the side, in little cups) and about twenty croutons (more croutons than the few diced tomatoes.) No cucumbers, no onions, just lettuce, a few diced tomatoes, and at least half of a cup of ranch dressing and croutons.
She had three tables: the table before us and the one after us, and we were in the middle.
She did ask if we wanted dessert, but we both said no.
I asked my husband if he received this type of treatment when he went to this establishment on Monday with his boss and co-workers after a business meeting. He said, "No, the waitress was friendly and attentive. They never had to reach out to her to get her attention." I asked if the waitress was the same. He said, "No, she was very friendly, but I don't see her today,"
Sorry for the lengthy review, but don't go around 2 to 3 pm because the servers are overworked and forget the code; the more food ordered, the higher the tip. Also, she must understand it is her responsibility to make us feel welcome, and to make us want to come back. Also, the face/body language say a lot, even when your mouth isn't moving. We didn't feel welcome, and we probably...
Read moreFirst, I have traveled the country visiting longhorns, beings their "Outlaw" steak is one of my favorites. But after this visit, and in the following SHORT review, this location is NOT a repeat visit. Keep in mind, the health department score is 96, but there was food left on the floor (from patrons and servers dropping food) for over two hours, in walkways and under tables, in sight. Being shortly after a major hurricane, I don't expect much, but there needs to be a baseline still. We waited only 30 min to be seated, but then we had to wait almost 2 hours for food. They were not staffed for filling tables or with large 15+ parties back to back along with filling every table. Staffing issues can be solved by utilizing the correct table count. Leave some tables empty! It's okay. After 20-30 min, appetizers and salads are here. That's an acceptable wait. But! The salad tasted like someone missed with cleaning spray and got it on the salad. Mine was ordered with no dressing, so it wasn't bad dressing. The server didn't bother about the complaint, didn't replace it, didn't acknowledge it past the fact I said words to her. Waitress refilled drinks, but no word on main course. Hour goes by, not even an update. Hour and a half, still nothing. Finally, she does acknowledge a problem and goes back to which she almost immediately comes back with the food. Odd, but finally, our meals. Mind, there are only 3 of us, not a huge party. My order came out completely wrong. Overcooked, that same chemical taste also on the vegetables on my plate. The other 2 plates, I was told, were okay. I was told, I did not sample my parties' plates for them. The waitress, again, dismissed the concern and said it was impossible to have that issue with the vegetables. I was offered to wait for another steak, but after 2 hours already, why would I want to wait.. again?? I did receive a comp for my meal and paid for the other two since they did not express complaints. They are more passive than I am (and also, free meal for the other 2 since I was paying), so I can't say for sure there were not issues, though. After paying, I wanted to express these concerns with management. I did not want a free table of food, so yes, I waited to approach management. I do pay for food that was okay. The management, unfortunately, brushed off the concern and excused the issues with "I am the only manager working and we busy and understaffed," in summary. So, address the understaff with taking on less tables and work on turning over tables instead of simply filling them and giving awful experiences. Address this concern to start with. Tell people the wait is an hour, hour and a half. Let them make the choice to stay or not. Don't sit in 30 min and then make them wait 2...
Read moreUpdate: Many thanks to Longhorn's Guest Relations team for taking the time to reach out to me. The issue was resolved and I do appreciate it very much. I'm updating my review to 5 stars based on the care shown.
I hadn't had Longhorn's in a while and since the pandemic happened I just generally stayed away from eating out. Recently, I ventured out with some friends to have dinner. Longhorn's used to be one of my favorites and I was excited to go eat there again. Things seemed to go well. Our food was good, albeit very minimal amount for the prices. But we do know what the price surges can be blamed on. That I could get past.
Unfortunately, it wasn't until I was done eating and had left the restaurant that I realized I never received my signature side order. Sides come with your dinner entree and I'd upgraded my order to the bacon mac and cheese. By the time I realized I never received it, the restaurant was already closed. I called the next day after my friend said that I should. I didn't think much could be done about it but did want to try and just let them know because I was a bit upset about it.
I was bounced around the phone a few times and was eventually told a manager would call me back later. We confirmed my phone number and I hung up to wait..... I never received a phone call from a manager. Honestly I wasn't surprised, but you know what? Even if they couldn't do anything about it, for me, it would have been courtesy to have a call back and have that explained to me because I am thinking perhaps there is a way they can help. And if not, it's okay because mistakes happen and I should have paid attention to my meal. But overlooking someone that paid for something and never received it wasn't decent...
