The Lakeside Restaurant & Lounge — Restaurant in Town of Lake George

We are here at our last night at the hotel. Giving 2 Stars for the amazing view but, that was the only amazing thing about eating here. Cocktails were meh, service was inconsistent. Every table around us got a bread basket but, for some reason, we didn't and our water glasses didn't stay full. We ordered the butternut squash arancini. It was ok for arancini but there was ZERO butternut squash in it. So it just tasted like your average run of the mill arancini. I got the duck. The duck was overcooked. It's only saving grace was the plum sauce I could smother it in (kinda like choking down a bad steak with the help of ketchup) and my veggies were SO overcooked and dried out they tasted like I was chewing on wood chips. I had to ask for butter to slather on it to soften it up and give it some flavor. There was a weird ...over cooked like potato skin on my plate that I couldn't eat without ketchup. It was weird. Usually when I order duck they'll ask how well done you want it or they're a restaurant offering duck and know how to cook it. My husband got the hanger steak. His plate was a lot better than mine. They again, didn't ask him how well he wanted it cooked but he said they nailed it. The potatoes au gratin on his plate were very good and he enjoyed his asparagus. Looked at the dessert menu but, not many offerings to speak of. We were mostly very thirsty because we couldn't get our waters refilled to save our lives and thoroughly unimpressed. It ended up being a $155 meal and not in the least worth it in my opinion. I've spent less on better. We had 2 drinks each, butternut squash arancini appetizer (sans the butternut squash), and two entrees....

Love this place!!Absolutely incredible food & and service, plus the view of the lake is phenomenal! Everything we ordered was superb! Chicken marsala, beyond delicious 😋 Braised Beef short ribs, we're so tender and juicy.. For appetizers, we had New Eng Clam Chowder, which hit the warm spot on a chilly rainy evening, and this Spanish spicy seafood special, Cotel De Mariscos, which was to die for!! I kept stealing from my husband's plate when he wasn't looking, lol. The Molton Chocolate Cake for dessert was equally incredible (only dish i paused 4 a pic of, lol). BTW - this place AKA- "The Best Damn Breakfast in Town." Back in 80's & 90s, all of us locals knew it as such...So the breakfast is incredible too! Prices are actually affordable, and this is another reason why we will be back! Best views of my beautiful and most favorite lake/place in the world! From the second I walked in, Joel made the evening special. I was a party of 1 and sat at the bar for a drink and app before being seated for a table of 1 for dinner. At the bar I ordered the gold rush cocktail and the crab cakes. Both of which were delicious (shout out to Josh). Joel seated me at the corner table in the dinning room which had an unbelievable view of the lake. Joel also helped me with the menu before my exceptional waitress, Amber, helped seal the deal. I ordered the Duck dish and I am GLAD I did. This dish was amazing. The Chef paired the duck perfectly with a plum sauce which was extraordinary. I'm usually not a "fruit"-sauce person, but this dish was an easy exception. Overall, my experience was phenomenal and I would recommend it to any couple, family, and or individual looking to have a great dinner with delicious cocktails.
