I ordered a birthday cake from Lake Geroge bakery mid June for July 8th. I was told that they would not be open on the 8th because they are closed Mondays and Tuesdays. But they assured me that if I ordered a “Buttercream” cake and picked it up on Sunday , the 6th late in the day the cake would still be fresh for the 8th. The day I placed the order over the phone, the girl said TWICE “I will see you Sunday” and TWICE I corrected her and said “No not this Sunday, it’s for the 6th at 3:00”. And she said “oh yes yes not this Sunday “. Well, sure enough they called me at 3:30 on Sunday June 29th and said my cake was ready! Before I could tell them it’s not today, it’s next Sunday, the girl corrected herself and said “omg this cake is next Sunday. Nevermind”. I said “I hope you can sell that “. She said oh yes no problem “. Well they were closing soon and they would be closed for the next two days so I found it hard to believe they would sell that cake while it was fresh. Afraid they would freeze it until the next Sunday, I called them a few days later (Wednesday) and told them I wanted to change the filling to raspberry and they said that’s and extra $16 charge ….so they charged my credit card another $16.49 extra for raspberry filling. I didn’t care because I just wanted a fresh cake for 8 family members who were flying here for this birthday party. I picked the cake up on Sunday the 6th and took it home. When we cut into the cake, there was the Original VANILLA filling (icing) and no raspberry filling. The cake was not fresh. It tasted like it had been frozen. The buttercream was hard. This was a total disappointment. I guess they didn’t want to make another cake with the raspberry filling!!!! I called and them and told them and they didn’t even question it! So they knew what they did! They did credit me the $16 but I guess they couldn’t be bothered making another cake with the raspberry filling when this was THEIR MISTAKE making the cake one whole week before the date I told them. One expensive cake! I wouldn’t care if it was fresh! And on top of that , they...
Read moreI ordered my wedding cake from here for a local wedding in Lake George and this place needs a serious overhaul. I talked to the owner Debbie initially who seemed great, old school vibe and told me to call back in a few weeks. I then spoke to Donna who said they couldn’t take any more brides, I was shocked and said I was told I had my date set and was told to call back in a few weeks. Things continued to be difficult every time I talked to Donna. She seemed clueless whenever we spoke, would tell me one thing on a call and then say something different next time. When I expressed my frustration she just said that she just does what Debbie tells her. Two weeks out before my wedding, I called and she had no idea who I was yet again or what we had previously discussed multiple times with what we were doing for my cake (which was a very simple vanilla cake with custard and strawberries with white frosting). Donna was supposed to call me three days before my wedding and she never did. When I went to pay them the day before my wedding, the workers again had no idea who I was. I got a call from Donna saying it was almost closing time and I hadn’t shown up. She failed to mention at any point previously that I was to go to the Queensbury location not the Lake George location. I politely said I dropped the payment off earlier that morning. I was shocked after all this and thinking I may not get my cake for my wedding. I brought this up to my planner and she said she had heard similar thing and they were all over the place. My planner also mentioned that their cakes are glitter cakes which are their signature which no one had mentioned that to me ever. My planner was supposed to correct that with them but she did not, we had a sparkly white cake which was not what myself or my fiancé wanted. The cake was okay, I took a bite but that’s it. We had a lot of cake leftover. I would find another bakery if you don’t want the stress and disappointment that this...

I ordered a chocolate cake with chocolate frosting and a specific message. Two phone calls were had, the second one being them to me, to ensure what the order was correct. The frosting was white and the message was wrong.
The initial employee I talked with was very nice and very professional. It was with great reluctance that she wanted to say anything to the baker/owner, but she did.
Long story short, I expressed that I wanted the cake I ordered and I was not paying for the botched cake.
The owner took the cake, walked away and told the employee to refund my money and dismissed me. I asked if this is how she ran her business and she got in my face and told me to lower my f_____g voice. My voice was raised because I was being dismissed and walked away from and being basically asked how bad don’t I like it.
She used more profanity to include an obscene gesture as she locked the door behind me.
She “warned” me that the whole thing was on video and I challenged her to show the video to News Center 6 to which she replied that she would because “They’re personal friends”. She can show that video any day of the week and I guarantee she comes off less favorable in that event. So basically ma’am, any day and twice on Sunday.
Short of a public apology and a fully compensated cake I will NEVER spend one red cent in that...
