I wish I could put no stars to this place. I used to work here and was under the manager and training to take his spot, only thing I was told was to get my food handlers card, 2-3 days after getting hired I met the owners wife, Diane, it was a really awkward conversation she kept asking how old I was and I said I’m 20 the next day was told I’m not of age to work there because of the alcohol, mind you I wasn’t told I needed my OLCC until after they fired me the first time, after I got my OLCC permit Joey the manager said I would still need my main OLCC not the permit to be able to work there but wouldn’t be able to work there until my 21st birthday. Super Bowl day was asked if I could come into work and it was okay from the owners son, I then worked and was told to work the following Friday Saturday Sunday, I couldn’t work Sunday due to family events, and Friday I had a fever of 103.3 from this unknown virus that’s going around, Friday night around 10pm I texted him saying if I feel better and you want me to come into work what time you want me to come into work, I was feeling better Saturday morning but woke up to a text of him firing me because “I called out too many times” mind you the place I worked at before I called out and missed a week due to having RSV I wasn’t working there yet, then proceeded to tell me I wasn’t a man because how I was acting to which I was questioning why he was firing me, he blocked me and my wife’s number because I was calling him out. he then went into my mothers place of work and told her lies stating I threatened him to which I said not one threatening word to him, said he was going to mail my check, then said he was going to give it to my mom and that I wasn’t allowed to go and pick up the check in person because he’s scared of what I might do. (Sounds very stereotypical to me considering I’m African American and that’s how I guess people look at us). He fired me Saturday and here it is going on Wednesday and have not received my final check, according to BOLI he is supposed to have my check the very next day. My goal as the new manager of 60’s was to be a better manager than him, treat people, and the staff better and not for the money but for the good of helping and being there for people, as I look at the reviews a lot of bad ones on Joey I would’ve handled and conducted myself in a more better/professional matter and handled the situation way more efficiently then he did. I really tried to pour my heart into the place but all i got in return was disrespect, and discriminated against I’m sorry and I didn’t want to do this but people need to know the truth about what goes on...
Read moreA swing and a miss! I was excited to try this new restaurant out only for this blast from the past to be feeling more JFK assassination than moon landing. First of all, the decor looked as if it was designed by someone who had listened to oldies radio and decided to take a go at things without doing any research on the era. As an example, they had a picture of James Dean that was labeled to be taken in 1956.....he died in 1955. The wall was covered in items from the 20's - 70's.
You might be thinking, "wow, you spent a lot of time looking at the walls!" You're right! Why? Because service here was horrific and I had A LOT of time on my hands. By my count, they had two waiters and two table bussers. The restaurant itself had 20-30 tables total (maybe about half were occupied). A lot of people were just sort of standing at the doors for awhile waiting to be seated. (there was a door on both sides of the restaurant) when I entered I waited for awhile until someone behind the counter pointed to a table. Everything was so slow and I'm not talking about milkshakes and food- even getting a soda took a long time. I could tell the wait staff was frustrated. I heard cussing and arguing and one guy was walking around in pain. They also seemed to use these tablets to take your order (I'm being silly but it seems odd being a 60's diner and having the wait staff use tablets) and it seemed to be a bit of a struggle to use them as it took a long time to take our order. One last thing on the service front- I was given a check that was just an amount, I went to pay the check and was told a completely different total ($20 more!). Thank god I didn't pay with cash and leave otherwise I guess I would have severely underpaid.
The food? Only reason it's not a 1 star is the food was....fine. I had the chili cheese fries but the cheese wasn't fully melted. The burger was okay but nothing special. Fries on their own were pretty salty and tasty. The milkshakes were pretty good too but came in a warm glass?
Some things should just stay in the past and unfortunately this restaurant is...
Read moreMy partner and I entered the diner around 7 pm this evening. It's hard to tell if you wait to be seated or if you seat yourself. So we wandered to what we thought was the front counter and waited for someone to become available to assist us. Eventually an employee asked us if we were wanting to place an order to go or if we were eating in. We said we were going to be eating in. He looked right at my partner and said "Not with that thing." and pointed to her small service dog. My partner responded that was her service dog. He blatantly told her "That is not a service animal it is just for support." She responded asking if he knew what the difference between an ESA and a service dog was. He said he knew there was some difference "legally." My partner proceeded to tell him that an ESA provides emotional support just by its presence and a service dog performs a specific task to assist a disabled person. She also stated she was aware that it is not legal to deny a person service because they use a service dog. Which is exactly what he did, denied her service because of her use of a service dog. I just don't have the words to describe the shock I am in.
**Response to the owners comment. It doesn't seem as if you read my original review correctly. My partner clearly stated that her dog was a service animal and NOT an ESA. It was YOUR employee who told her that her service animal was an ESA and she corrected him by explaining the difference. We are happy to come and try again and we would assume that we would not be denied due to my partners SERVICE...
