Manager Alison is very rude. Under her management, there has been a huge turnover of workers. In just a few years, there have been dozens of workers come and go. Alison belittled and harassed an employee so much that he slapped her in the face and quit. Alison has now begun to be rude to customers like myself. For several weeks she has been argumentative with me. Recently I have been avoiding her, but this morning she demanded to be the cashier for my order. She then engaged in a needless argument with me. I asked her to stop, and just take my payment, but she did not stop. She continued arguing with me over and over again. I could not just leave because I had to pay. After I finally paid, I went to the security desk. As I was speaking to the security guard, Alison insisted on speaking with me. I told Alison that I did not want to speak with her, and she insisted several more times; at which point I had to threaten to call the police for Alison to back off and leave. The security guard herself even told me that Alison had once rudely taken a parking spot that the security guard had already paid for. Alison's workers routinely confide in customers that Alison is very hard to work for. Alison should not...
Read moreI wasn’t expecting much, you know just a normal cafe type food, but was totally blown away. I got a cookie, blended coffee and veggie sandwich. The true star was the sandwich, although the other items were good too. THE VEGGIE SANDWICH - holy moly, buckle up for the most refreshing, satisfying, crunchy yet soft, and creamy experience in a sandwich. -The bread: I wish I could eat with every meal. It was so so soft and delicious, yet held the sandwich together just fine. Incredibly fresh, like it must have been made this morning. -The veggies: super fresh and flavorful. Hummus, avocado, cucumber, tomatoes, spinach or something, and other stuff probably, I can’t remember. Maybe there was a slice of cheese in there. Truly, I cannot overstate how fresh and perfectly balanced everything was. Not messy, but the perfect amount of avocado and hummus to where it held everything together, was taste-able and didn’t leave you wanting. The full sandwich hit the spot for a very filling lunch.
I would have taken a picture, but I couldn’t put it down. I will definitely be back here to try their other sandwiches.. or maybe just keep ordering this one,...
Read moreDue to where I live, I have to take an express bus to and from my house, so that means that most days I work, I have three hours to kill. Ikes is my go-to place before the library opens, and my go-to café.
If you use any kind of mobility aid, be prepared to sit at a middle table or take your items to go. It is a small, cozy place, but when you have limited mobility, it is a bit of an obstacle course.
I really do love Ikes though. The environment is different than anyplace I've been before, but it's very comfortable and familial.
I don't know the first thing about coffee, so I don't know how good it is, just that I enjoy it. What i do know is that their sandwiches are incredible. I had a French connection, which is turkey, lettuce, tomato, pesto sauce, provolone on a baguette. And it was amazing.
They really need to label their muffins though.
Tl;dr they're not perfect, and inaccessible if you aren't abled, but it's absolutely worth it. A great company with great food and lovely employees. 9/10...
