An absolutely delightful find, Bombolé is a gem in the desert. Since the beginning of quarantine, my daughters and I have been extremely careful and had very little elective contact with the outside world. At some point we decided we just had to try someplace new. Bombolé fit the bill and was exactly what we were after!
Walking in the open area was extremely clean and inviting. The glass cases worked as an effective barrier between patrons and the food. The employee that greeted us did so with a friendly voice while wearing his mask and a face shield over that. There's sanitizer by the cash register. I cannot express enough just how clean and orderly everything was inside. Of course it would not have been worth it had the food not been spectacular, which it absolutely was!
The empanadas are fluffy little pockets of goodness surrounding scrumptious fillings and could easily make a delicious meal all on their own. The sauces that come with them are bursting with flavor. They even have dosa and you would seriously be doing yourself a disservice to skip adding one of those to your plate. As a sharp contrast to the pillowy foods already listed, they have crispy and refreshing slaws that make a perfect complement to your meal. We ordered a couple of bowls of their fragrant lentils that tasted as good as they smelled. I added an oolong iced tea to my meal, which was also delicious.
This place is pretty epic, and I'm really glad that we chose Bombolé as our quarantine...

I used to eat here 2-3 times a week and recommend to all my friends. Then regular employees were replaced and the recipes changed. The flavors were off and the cabbage slaw was regularly old (brown, dried out, flavor off etc.). I stopped going and gave them more time to get it together. I wanted to believe they could work through whatever was going on.
After a 2-3 month hiatus it's worse. The daal and rice were barely warm despite being served directly from a chaffing dish. They were also lacking in flavor. The daal was peppery and lacked the depth it used to have. It was also watery. At least it came with rice to soak up the water I guess? Except the rice was oily so the two didn't mix well. Also, the onions in the rice reminded me of plastic.
If you're gluten free and ate here previously, as I did, you will also be disappointed to know that there is a $2.00 up charge for the gluten free wraps. I would have been happy to pay the difference if the wraps had the flavor they used to have and were consistently edible. Unfortunately you'll more than likely feel ripped off when they come out either dried out or doughy.
Sadly I don't think there's any reason for me to come back. Luckily there are plenty of places to eat in the...
Read moreWonderful. Found open air parking at N Ash Avenue and Stone $6.50 and walked around 2 corners. Zoom into Google Map to see. Stone Avenue has some construction and very limited parking with restricted time. On the way back I noticed the library I popped in and asked. If you park underground library parking it's free for 1 hour. Afterwards I don't know the cost.
I had the Spinach and Mushroom Empanada. It was warm. The crust, light, crunchy, and flaky. The spices worked well together to make the spinach sing, and the mushrooms added additional texture. I'm glad I had an extra one for later. I also had the Dosa with Spinach and Mushroom to go for later.
Looking at what others ordered, I would suggest a combo. The rice, lentils, and salad seemed popular, large, and filling. It's also well priced. The Bombo combo also looked promising. It was a bustling place for lunch.
The Hibiscus tea was a lovely treat. I would definitely eat here again. The Aloo Mater Samosa was really good. The pastry is a thin version of puff pastry, and not too rich. Order at the counter. I collected my empanadas and waited for the rest. The cilantro mint sauce and masala sauce both enhanced my meal. Great...
