JA Ramen — Restaurant in Tucson

EDIT 9/25/2024* They've recently increased their prices, increased the size of the Mexican Soda that I like to get. And now, it went from being roughly $15 a person to being $20 a person.

That's absurd. They're basically costing the same as a steak house. I've been normally going on Wednesday to get the deal, which was $10 for a Miso or Tonkotsu Ramen, it's now a $12 deal. While in the gran scheme of things, not a big increase, but in reality that's a pretty dang steep spike in the price increase.

They've had a dude that the building who's service has utterly sucked. He would take his sweet time, I literally stood at the register for about 2 and a half minutes as he meandered through the store went into the back, sat on his phone.

And, I've been getting increasingly crappier and crappier cuts of meat. I literally had some meat that was essentially... melted goo... with some solid dry chunks of pork. So, the quality of the meal has decreased.

I'm at a point of boycott with them. They're too expensive, they have a rude employee, and their food has degraded (still good) in quality in just the 6 months I've been going there.

I WILL NOT BE GOING BACK UNTIL: A.) I'm super hankering for some ramen and it's a rare treat. B.) They get rid of that dude. I tried to be understanding and all, but I hate going there when he's there. I worked restaruants, retail, service, and fast food I get working in these places can suck, but there's point in which I won't be coming back because it's just simply not a pleasant atmosphere. C.) They get the quality back up. D.) Bring their prices to a reasonable level - you're not a steak house - it doesn't have to be back to what it was before the price increase but what it is now, is unacceptable.

I go frequently. The food is great! I have occasionally gotten okay quality. Even still, their okay quality is still better than most places okay quality.

They are pretty dang cheap for modern dinning, as well! It's roughly a little less than $15 for one person. the portions are of good...

I used to be a regular here because I work down the street and enjoy the Las Vegas roll (sauce on the side). The last few times I’ve ordered it I’ve been extremely disappointed. I’ve had to pick out the salmon because it looks brown and gross (it could be fine but it weirds me out).

Just today same thing with salmon but this time they bring it out COLD. THIS ROLL IS SUPPOSED TO BE COOKED. It used to come out piping hot. I ended up just picking at the rice and eating that part but left a lot because I couldn’t stomach it. Hopefully I don’t get sick. What happened to this place?

Idk if something happened to management but it’s I’ve noticed some new staff and I understand growing pains but seriously how do you not cook the las Vegas roll? Did you have it sitting out all day waiting for someone to order it? That’s just nasty.

Not to mention I’ve had the ramen multiple times, and it’s not my favorite. One time the chasu was just overcooked and burnt, and overall the noodles are too chewy for me.

I never even ask for a refund because I don’t like confrontation, but I hope someone sees this and takes some sort of action to prevent future customers getting sick from bad sushi. I don’t have a sensitive stomach so I’d probably be fine.

I wouldn’t even be that disappointed if I haven’t been used to it being amazing and fresh EVERY time.

And $15 just to have like five bites of cold rice is CRAZY…

EDIT: scrolling through the reviews I am seeing that cold food is a reoccurring...

Went to celebrate my friend’s birthday at this location, I asked for The veggie ramen but with steamed tofu and no ramen just vegetables. I made sure to clarify with lady that was on shift on December 2, 4:20 PM. When i got my ramen, i kindly asked her she got my order incorrectly, and got close to my face and started to say “but i was your cashier , Next time you need to request it. i heard you correctly.” She seemed hesitant on redoing my order, but she did regardless. When i got my bowl back, she placed it aggressively on my table, (like she was bothered) and left. The bowl I received had two small cubes of tofu, and hardly any vegetables just broth, and to my surprise, I turned around and she was pointing at me, bickering and laughing with the chefs. I honestly felt so distraught and sad, this was my first time experience and this lady ruined it for me. I was nothing but kind and nice to her, but i guess she was having a hard time.
