A great concept with great service, an elevated-cozy ambiance, fantastic empanadas, and enjoyable seasonal entrees.
My family and I came here on a Saturday night to celebrate a recent life event. I had done my research on some of Tulsa's best restaurants, and this experience and the menu interested me quite a bit (I'm especially gullible to a restaurant that has a pairing for each of their entrees by the glass on the menu).
I really enjoyed the ambiance and decor, especially at night. There was an open view of the kitchen and searing of all sorts around the front - chef's table, booths, and high tops, with nice dim lighting around . My party and I were escorted and seated towards the back, in a smaller room surrounded by decor in the theme of Amelia Earhart.
Our service was excellent, with an experienced wait staff that were courteous and helpful. We decided to get a couple starters for the table and starter drinks before we each got our own entree.
For the entrees - we ordered the sourdough bread and empanadas (4). While a bit disappointed we had to order the bread, it was warm and soft and the orange butter that accompanied it was very flavorful. I had heard the Empanadas were some of the tastiest of the entire menu, and I wholeheartedly agree. The Beef was extremely well seasoned and the accompaniments of potato, squash and cheese were all heard and felt. My 'beet' margarita with mezcal was a great and refreshing companion to the empanada.
I was able to try everyone's entree, but I went with the Curry-Spiced Quail. The serving sizes for all the dishes were enormous, but they were all good in their own right. You definitely got the curry flavor in the quail, perhaps more than the quail itself, but I enjoyed it - albeit not my favorite entree. I also really enjoyed the balance of the bird with the risotto and fall flavors on the plate. I had paired the dish with their recommended zinfandel, which was fine but not an elite choice of pairing in my opinion. The other dishes at the table were the Scallops, the Ravioli, and the Salmon. The Scallops were good, especially for a land-locked state. The braised beef overpowered the Ravioli dish in my opinion, but it was all still very well prepared. The Salmon was also cooked well and looked well dressed surrounded by its accompaniments.
We did not save room for dessert, although they all looked great. Overall I would certainly recommend this restaurant to those looking for a nicer dinner in Downtown Tulsa, and would be happy...
Read moreWalked in solo and without a reservation, and was invited to sit at the chef’s table (bar seating next to the kitchen). As I was basking in wave after wave of incredible smells, I was greeted by the friendly and knowledgeable Jake, who made great wine and food recommendations. I chose red wine and heartier foods on a winter night, but the menu made my mouth water.
The wine list held an array of interesting bottles from many of the key regions around the world, but also from wineries in with which I wasn’t at all familiar. One of Amelia’s claims to fame is great bottles from little known producers, and I was fascinated by the list. (I will be back to explore more of the offerings!)
To start: For anyone who has ever disliked Brussel sprouts, try their fried brussel sprout kale Caesar salad. You will immediately be converted to brussel sprout fandom. For those of us who already enjoyed them..you’ll be working hard not to lick the plate.
For my entree, I chose the beef tenderloin medallion with braised kale and creamed parsnips. The beef was melt in your mouth tender, and the Syrah (Jake’s suggestion) was the right balance of leathery with hints of dark fruit to show off but not overwhelm the meal. The kale added texture and the parsnips creaminess that could not have been married better. I found myself taking tiny bites to allow me to savor the flavors for longer. Again, I feel that I showed remarkable self-restraint in not licking the plate clean.
I rarely get dessert after such a decadent meal, but Jake told me the butter cake was not to be missed...and at this point who was I to argue??
The cake was sweet, buttery, with a crusty top and slightly soft interior like a perfectly baked brownie. The scoop of house made buttermilk ice cream on top of it added some tartness and almost herbal flavor that contrasted beautifully. I am not in the habit of licking dishware at restaurants, but for the third time in an hour, I thought about it.
The service was impeccable, the food was incredible, the atmosphere cozy and comfortable—just a lovely meal. Oh, and I am neither a chef, nor do I have any credentials in the restaurant reviewing industry—but the chef sitting down the bar from me was raving about his meal as well.

10/10. Creative & Delicious Menu. Attentive staff. Quick turn around on orders. Charming atmosphere. My wife and I visited Amelia’s for our second anniversary and it became one of our favorite dining experiences in Tulsa. Their website made the restaurant feel much bigger. In reality, it was a more intimate setting. My wife and I ordered the Charred Spanish Octopus and Brussel Sprout Scarpetta (Think elevated spinach artichoke dip). The octopus was my favorite part of my meal. I was taken back by how they were able to make the outside crispy and the inside as tender as a scallop. My wife and I deliberately ordered what we thought would be our least favorite items on the menu knowing we would be back to try the other dishes. I got the Sea Bass and my wife ordered the pasta (which she never does). Both were very delicious. She did wish that there was a piece of sourdough was paired with the pasta to collect all the extra sauce. My sea bass was perfectly cooked, but I didn’t get the smoky deliciousness that I got with the octopus. Also, I did not realize that the sea bass would be served on a bed of beans. They were delicious, and cooked perfectly, but felt a bit heavy paired with the bass. Our cocktails were delicious and creative. Which brings me to the service. Outstanding. Although they placed a carafe of water on the table, we never had to pour it ourselves. The attendants were on it! Skyler, our waitperson was amazing! They knew the menu and genuinely loved creating an amazing experience for my wife and I. The dessert was my wife’s favorite, a goat cheese cheesecake with cardamom and blueberry compote (formerly peaches. Smart change. The blueberries let the cheesecake shine.) Little details like the plates (not your basic white tablets) and decor added to Amelia’s charm. If you enjoy a unique dining experience with amazing service, try Amelia’s. Thank you for a...
