UrbanSpace is such an improvement over Isabella's Eatery. The food is more diverse and fresher, the staff is nicer, a better set-up without a formal dining hall. Most of all - so much less pretentious!
The premium food court is like a Taste of DC with an unique mix of stalls from flagship restaurants in DC - Andy's Pizza, Stomping Ground (cafe), Donburi (Japanese), Sen Khao (Laotian from team of Thip Khao), Ice Cream Jubilee, and Lady M. (layered crepes from Lower East Side Manhattan - not sure why that's in the mall). It's nice to see more traditional Asian restaurants rather than sushi and relief not to see another cupcake shop.
My favorite food is Donburi's hearty Japanese Tofu Veggie Curry, Stomping Ground's Biscuit egg cheese avocado sammie, and Ice Cream Jubilee's Caramel Banana Bourbon ice cream.
The breakfast sammie biscuit sandwiches at Stomping Ground really hit the spot! I like how you can craft your own and added egg, cheddar cheese, and the lemon avocado mash. The hearty sandwich was quite a doozy to eat and delightfully messy! The biscuits are so fluffy and moist that I'll opt just for the biscuit next time. A big improvement over Isabella's defunct coffee shop that didn't really offer much breakfast options.
Ice Cream Jubilee offers a variety - 16 to be exact - of fun and traditional flavors. During Ice Cream Jubilee's soft opening I only saw the standard flavors and got the Caramel Banana Bourbon ice cream and Cookies and Cookie Dough. I recently saw newer interesting flavors like Pumpkin Chai, Candy Cane & Pretzel, Boozy Egg Nog and Thai Iced Tea. Will be back!
Donburi's savory Tofu Veggie Curry is bursting with flavor in every bite! I love the crispy tofu and the white rice soaking up all of the curry's rich flavor. I enjoyed the pickled radish, scallions, and peppers with the curry. My husband liked Karaagedon Curry with chicken, which was identical to mine but with fried chicken instead of tofu.
Excited to come back and try out the...
Read moreI cannot speak for any of the other vendors, but the bowl of Mix Katsudon Donburi brought honest-to-god, I-am-not-exaggerating, tears to my eyes. The tender boiled rice with eggy bits, the dark meat chicken, the tempura shrimp with soggy breading bits underneath the crispy outside, the little purple pickled thingies, the sweet mayo; I feel spuritually satisfied. Please, for the love of all that holy, nobody tell me how much sodium is in that meal, nobody tell me the calorie count. I’m going to order it...
Read moreNice place to eat pizza, or have a coffee. On one side is Amy's pizza, the other is a nice coffee place. Going further down the hallway they face each other in, the room expands into a circular eating area, with bar-style high tables and chairs, and regular restaurant booths, the top complete with multiple layered light rings, and on the side of the walls closer to the ceiling, eccentric paintings layer the...
