Okay… here are my thoughts based on what I tried, birria tacos, tacos Al pastor, torta de milanesa de pollo y, horchatas to drink.
The birria tacos were delicious, I would give it a 4.7/5.0. Juicy, flavorful, great portion, the consomé has to be bought separately (which I don’t know how I feel) but it definitely helps enhance the meat flavor.
The tacos Al pastor were not good, a 2.5/5.0, it lacked flavor, pineapple, moistness, the meat had a weird flavor… I would suggest for them to try a different way to season meat.
The torras were a 4/5, the chicken lacked flavor but I think the portion and fried beans added were tasty. I think it’s hard to mess up a chicken cutlet (I hope I don’t jinx myself).
The horchatas are a rip off, it’s like a 4 oz cup and they charge a decent price. It lacked cinnamon and it wasn’t amazing (for what we paid), extremely watery. I think tweaking some flavors to enhance what they currently have would boost this restaurant from a 7 to a 10. I am still looking for some bomb tacos Al pastor here in Jersey, so suggestions are always...
Read moreI had heard about this truck a couple times and we decided to try it out for lunch. (I would give it 4.5 stars if I could.) They're known for the Birria so we got a couple of those and I got an Al Pastor taco too. The consomé is extra and unless you are getting a pile of tacos, the small is probably enough. We got the large on the recommendation of the girl at the register and didn't wind up finishing it.
The order took a while as they were busy on a Sat afternoon but that wasn't so bad. They only take cash, so we had to go find an ATM anyway.
The tacos were good and the meat was cooked well. They didn't skimp on the meat either which is nice. The tortillas were very good quality. The Pastor wasn't my favorite, but it wasn't bad. The only real issue was that everything needed more salt, but there was none available that I could see.
I would give it another shot if I was in the area, and I would definitely try their breakfast tortas. They...
Read moreWent to there grand opening in Jersey city heights and I have to say I was very disappointed. The left picture with aluminum foil is from the torta truck in jc heights. The picture with the torta in the styrofoam container is from a local vendor from my trip to Texas from a authentic torta vendor. The size and the quality of food from the torts from Texas was hands down way better then then the disgrace of a torta I got from the torta truck in jc. The meat was ok from the torta truck in jc not the best. They use Portuguese rolls for there torts not the traditional bread used for tortas. 15 dollars for a torts at the this place isn’t worth it. Don’t do what I did and believe the hype. Very very...
