La Herradura Latin Food — Restaurant in Virginia Beach

Went here a week ago while visiting Virginia beach, and let me tell you this was the worst of the restaurants that we went to, and we tried a different restaurant for every meal for all 5 days. The food is mediocre in terms of Latin food, not awful but not worth how high the prices were. Also the rice that came with both of our meals was way over cooked and mushy. Then there is the service when you walk in you are greated by a middle aged woman with a horrible attitude, she was rude to every white woman who walked in, and was constantly rolling her eyes and snappy with people including myself while taking orders. People like that shouldn't work with the public obviously not her strong suit. And then to add to all the BS. They automatically add in the tip to the bill so you can't tip the horrid woman based on her terrible service and attitude. So if you're in the area chose one of the many other delightful and delicious restaurants, instead of this whole where you are treated rudely and over charged for basic...

We came around 12pm so not busy or anything. We had 2 kids and 2 adults. They don’t have many vegan options which is ok, but all their salads have meat so I asked no meat and the salad was suppose to have carrots, avocados, cucumbers and lettuce, but mine came about 5 minutes after my families, with tomato’s and no carrots. So I had to wait to get carrots and it was still 19$ even though I didn’t get meat. At the time I asked for my carrots (I just picked the tomato's out) I also asked for sour cream for my child’s meal, and my carrots came but not the sour cream. To add sour cream was also almost 4$ more. Long story short, the service is not so great and I wouldn’t mind if they didn’t force a 20% gratuity for party’s 4+. My family Enjoyed their meals though. We came in a group of 18 and had a great experience overall. The restaurant looks small from the outside but is actually quite spacious, welcoming, and full of hospitality. Our server did a great job handling our large party, though it seemed like he could’ve used a bit more help from the team. The food was solid—no complaints. The deluxe burritos (chicken and beef) were tasty, though a bit on the salty side. Great margaritas and a really good version of a piña colada! The kids’ chicken nuggets were more like Dino nuggets, but they did the job. There’s a good variety of food options on the menu.
