Came here around 1pm with my husband and 6 year old on a Saturday in mid October… hungry for some lunch after exploring the boardwalk a bit (this was our first time in this area) and we stood at the “please wait to be seated” podium for 8 mins (I timed it) with not a single worker acknowledging us. I even made a joke to my daughter and asked if we were ghosts or something - because several workers walked past us and completely avoided eye contact. I understand it was busy - but as a former restaurant worker myself (served thru some highschool and college), a simple “we will be right with you” goes a long way. I even asked some patrons who left if we were standing in the right spot to get a table - and they said yes. So… once I reached my maximum patience limit…we left. It’s a shame bc it looked like it would’ve been a yummy lunch.
Edited to reply to the seriously unprofessional response
I didn’t ask you to “magically add more tables”. I asked you (since you were claiming to be there) or the couple other folks who work there and walked past us to ACKNOWLEDGE us standing there. You seriously need to work on your customer service skills, if that’s how you reply to...
Read moreTerrible service. Waitress sears us right away. Got us our drinks and then disappeared. She returned and had an extended conversation with the table next to us. 30 minutes later she said, “Oh, I forgot to take your order “. Meanwhile I asked for an unsweetened tea and she brought a sweet tea. This is the best part…. I asked question about what kind of breading was on the fish. She replied, “I don’t know “. She said she could ask. I said don’t worry about it I will just have the she crab soup. After that the cook came out and said to me “ what do you want to know about the breading? Do you want a full ingredient list!” The entire situation was awful. He went on to say he’s been making fish for years…. etc… so the waitress came back after that and asked if I wanted to change my mind to the fish. I said no. By this point we had been sitting there for almost an hour. Our food came and we ate. Food was good. The waitress never came back to ask if we wanted anything else. We had been finished eating for quite a while. We had to flag down another waitress to pay our bill. Will never...
Read moreI spent a few days last year at the boutique hotel and immediately gravitated to the "Grill". Fresh seafood, homemade sides, and hush puppies complete with butter and honey, I didn't even need to ask. Generous servings from both the food and drink menu. I was amazed that the small kitchen imprint was able to serve the bar, inside tables not to mention the 10 or 12 tables outside and service with a smile doesn't do justice to the attentive servers, food runners or the occasional walks the owners took and the time they spent making sure everyone's experience was pleasurable. We came again this year and enjoyed another stay at the clean and reasonably priced hotel and received the same tasty food and fantastic service Labor Day weekend. We will be making it our new family tradition. If you have youngsters or you are grandparents like us don't forget to ask for the gel pens and rocks to bring out their inner Picasso to either leave in the rock garden or to take home as a momento of one the best places in...
