It's definitely hibachi. And it's definitely a steak house. But it makes me feel sad for first time hibachi guests that probably leave thinking this is what a cool/great hibachi place is. It is not. Ever since I've been little going to a hibachi restaurant is something that is entertaining. The chef's have an inspiring talent to entertain the guests with their skills while embracing the table in a funny environment. Not only did our chef not do any of the expected hibachi rituals, but the chef behind him was lacking and neither of them communicated but for a very few words with the guests.
On top of this. Our experience was bad. They messed up an order of one of the guests in our party. And instead of making us feel better and showing concern for their guests, the chef repeatedly made the one who's order got messed up feel uncomfortable by pointing at her and telling her multiple times that she was not getting any food from the chef. Horrible. We just wanted to leave, felt uncomfortable and bad for the other's who we could tell it was their first time.
If you have never gone to a hibachi restaurant before, this place is not the place to go. Go to Shogun or someplace where they at least have a sense of humor and want to treat their guests with respect. I'm pretty sure nobody at our table would ever return to this place.
That being said, the food was similar flavored, the rice was not a good of quality as other's in town. The sauce bowls we're tiny cups and lacking in the yum-yum department. Fried rice costs extra. Cabbage is served instead of brussel sprouts. Soup was okay. But the service was horrible. They even charged us for the food they messed up on. Plates are small Picadilly plates. Sushi had green lettuce sticking out of it. The salad was standard, dressing was normal.
Food was standard hibachi, no complaints about the taste from me. But I strongly feel that hibachi is about the experience and this place left me feeling angry. We didn't even want to finish eating our food. Just...
Read moreIf you want to be discriminated do not go here. The moment we got in the restaurant it was horrible. Which was shocking because we been here one time before it was a bit better. But we went on August 16 for our son bday. From the beginning the person on the waitlist didn't write my husband's name down until he wrote a group of white people that came in after us. When we were already there before them. My husband had to ask the guy did you write my name down and he proceeded to say oh i forgot. Then we wait to be seated which is fine because we didn't have reservations but the other group of 13 that came in after us got to be seated first. We wait get brought to the back of the restaurant where the fan above the gril didn't work we had grease flying everywhere in our water and everything smoke all on our faces. Another group came in to be seated after us their drinks and soup and salad was handed to them as soon as they sat down ours took about 30 minutes. Then they get their food cooked and they came in after us mind you. It took them 1 hour for our cook to get to us. And he shows up saying a very racist unnecessary joke. His words "want to know why im late" because the border is closed" like what mind you we are 10 people some of us are fully hispanic some are black. We ignore it didn't respond or laugh because it was nasty and disrespectful and he saids it again.. like it was so disrespectful and disgusting very tasteless. The restaurant closes at 9:30 we had just got our food around 9:25 and they come rushing us asking if we want boxes. It was a very un enjoyable experience for us. the waitress was very rude and didn't write stuff down so we had to keep requesting stuff she didn't write down. Just overall all a very un pleasant experience....
Read moreWe decided to try a new restaurant tonight. We had a small wait to get in, that was not a problem. Once we sat down and ordered it was almost an hour before our hibachi food came out. I myself am white and have a African American husband and three kids one of which is a baby. We were sitting with a white family. The waitress would not reach and hand us anything. She walked up and handed drinks to the white family. Then she stood on the other side of the grill and held our drinks to her body and would not hand them to us. It was so bad that the other family was angry about it. This happened with everything, our food, silverware, salad, soup. She also removed the white families dishes, but not ours almost the entire meal. She refilled our waters once but never refilled my kids sodas. The chef was great, I will say that. So our check seamed high. I went to add a tip. Keep in mind I always tip really well at hibachi because of the show. When I went to add the tip I noticed that an 18% gratuity had been added. This was not disclosed. I looked at the menu and it said for parties of 6 or more they do. We did not have six people and asked and was told by the hostess sometimes the server does this for convenience. I told her that was illegal without notice or approval. She offered to remove it. I said no, but I would have tipped significantly higher probably twice that had she not done that. I asked the white family on the way out if they did that to them, and they said they did not. I think she did it because of my families ethnicity. Really bad experience, I will never go there again. I would not recommend if you are not white. It’s too bad the chef is there he was always my favorite even when he worked at...
