Personally as a Korean-American growing up in Utah i’ve never been satisfied with any other Korean restaurants except for Hong Kong Banjum.
I asked for the reason why they don’t have the full menu yet and they said that it is because the main corporations hasn’t given the word for the full menu to come out. They are still settling in so it is fully acceptable. Although the menu isn’t fully available they are slowly adding more and more over time and mostly almost everything is available now.
I love that the Jjamppong comes in a variety of choices such as the “Jjamppong” which is a tolerable level of spicy for most people, the “Gochu Jjamppong” which is the spicier version which is a much more deeper and hot taste. And finally the “Beef Jjamppong” which a completely non-spicy version.
The Tangsuyuk is considered a side dish in Korea and the style they have here is so good in my opinion. (I prefer my tangsuyuk with less meat and more batter.) The sauce is so unique and has the perfect balance of sweet and sour.
They are also setting up a delivery system with Doordash which will be available soon so that is exciting and very convenient for the future.
They serve the food in takeout containers whether you dine-in or take-out which great a way to stay safe and clean in during this global pandemic. Although it isn’t environmentally friendly it ensures that the staff and costumers are preventing any contamination of Covid-19.
The noodle are completely house made and are cut and boiled fresh when you order your food. When you order take-out you have the option of having them cooked or raw to cook at home, this is a great option for people that love far away from the restaurant or wants to eat the food later. Although taking out can make the noodles soggy and clump together a great tip they gave me is to boil some water then soak the noodle for a few seconds and the noodles are good and fresh as if you’re eating in the restaurant.
I find this restaurant to have great quality, taste, and service like no other Korean...
Read moreIt was soo good I visited twice in 3 days! The first visit, I was a bit confused and waited a few seconds before the hostesses instructed me to order at the counter first to place and pay for your order. She helped me tremendously with the menu and gave her honest opinion on the dishes. I tried the soy ginger wings which were tasty and the sweet chili shrimp. The shrimp were a good size and very flavorful. If I were to nit pick, it was a little too much sauce, but im typically a dry rub person.
On my second visit, another person helped me and she was the sweetest. Again gave me her honest opinion on the dishes and gave me her recommendations. Im so happy I tried the shrimp noodle dish #chefkiss. The beef dish was also 10/10. The portion sizes are also great, especially in this economy.
This is a casual eating spot with good music selection. It’s a comfortable and pleasant vibe. The restroom was clean and smelled fresh.
Overall, I would put the order at the counter first sign a bit higher, but again the hostesses were very attentive so they were happy to help. Honestly, If I wasn’t leaving I would go back to try more of the dishes! The more I try Korean food, the more I fall in love with the culture and the people. This is a...
Read moreOkay, I'm a S. Korea native who was practically raised on Korean-Chinese cuisine, so I feel that I can speak with some authority here. We used to drive down to Las Vegas just to get authentic Jjampong and Jjajangmyeon, but we stop making that trip ever since this place opened.
The quality of Jjagang (짜장) is probably the most telling dish in any "K-C restaurant" (중국집), analogous to say carne asada tacos at the Mexican joint, and this place nailed it; the flavor of the sauce and the texture of the noodles are spot on. The Jjampong (짬뽕) is true to its original recipe too with the emphasis on its flavorful soup without overbearing 건대기 (solids in the soup), which often makes homemade versions of this dish taste more like Haemultang (해물탕). I get the spicier Jjampong, and I think it is the more authentic experience.
Paik's noodle house is probably your best bet for quality authentic Korean-Chinese food within a 400 miles radius of SLC. Good food, fair price, clean atmosphere, and great people all make this place an easy 5-star recommendation!
TL;DR The food here is fantastic and true to its Korean-Chinese cuisine roots. If you are looking for an authentic Jjajangmyeon experience,...
