A Sizzling Experience at GoGi Korean Steakhouse in Westport
Nestled in the heart of Westport, Connecticut, GoGi Korean Steakhouse offers a delectable journey into Korean cuisine with a focus on savory grilled meats. My recent dining experience at GoGi left a lasting impression, combining authentic flavors, attentive service, and a cozy atmosphere.
From the moment I stepped inside, I was greeted by a warm and inviting ambiance. The sleek yet rustic decor, accented by wooden furnishings and Korean-inspired artwork, set the stage for an unforgettable culinary adventure. The restaurant's layout provided an intimate setting, perfect for both romantic dinners and lively gatherings with friends and family.
The menu at GoGi boasts an impressive selection of traditional Korean dishes, but the real star of the show is their Korean barbecue. Opting for the signature Bulgogi, I eagerly awaited the arrival of the marinated beef, ready to be grilled to perfection right at our table. Each bite was a symphony of flavors, with the tender meat infused with a delightful blend of sweet and savory notes.
Accompanying the Bulgogi were an array of banchan, traditional Korean side dishes that complemented the main course impeccably. From tangy kimchi to refreshing pickled vegetables, each banchan added depth and variety to the meal.
What truly set GoGi apart was the exceptional service. The staff were not only knowledgeable about the menu but also passionate about sharing their love for Korean cuisine. Our server guided us through the grilling process with enthusiasm, ensuring that every aspect of our dining experience exceeded expectations.
In addition to its culinary offerings, GoGi Korean Steakhouse also boasts a well-curated drink menu, featuring Korean-inspired cocktails and a selection of wines and spirits. I particularly enjoyed pairing my meal with a refreshing Soju cocktail, the perfect complement to the bold flavors of the Bulgogi.
Overall, my visit to GoGi Korean Steakhouse was nothing short of memorable. From the inviting atmosphere to the mouthwatering cuisine and impeccable service, every aspect of the dining experience was truly exceptional. Whether you're a seasoned fan of Korean barbecue or simply looking to explore new culinary horizons, GoGi is a must-visit destination...
Read moreDisaster!!! Please read before you go. This was the first time at this place. I decided to treat my children to dinner and made reservations 2 weeks before. Once we got here I was told there were no open tables. So I got them soft drinks and waited on the couch. Time went by with more apologies from different staff members. Ok we can wait. After 40 minutes we were finally seated. As far as the food ⊠special rolls at $20 each were just ok nothing special. We ordered 3 BBQ dishes for variety plus a salad ( avocado and mango). Which was mostly mango and watermelon. They brought in some sauces and side dishes which were mediocre. And thatâs when the real fun beginsâŠâŠâŠ we were asked for steamed or fried rice and I ordered fried since the kids like it. Well donât waist your money. 3 tiny potions cost 24 dollars. Thatâs 8 dollars each. And itâs not âfriedâ. Itâs just the same steamed rice with chucks of pineapple and corn. TOTAL RIPOFF! Then the meat came in. I thought the whole point is to enjoy and cook your entree on your own at your own pace. But not here!!! As soon as I said we would like to cook on our own they said the grill is going to turn off and itâs best to place everything together. Well the grill kept turning off multiple time and we barely started. As a mom and as a doctor I know all about food safety. There were raw ingredients touching cooked ingredients as they kept stirring the meat and shrimp for us. I felt very uncomfortable. I kept a watchful eye as they turning the ingredients over and over. The last thing I need is food poisoning for the kids. After a while I couldnât take it anymore and asked for a check. The waitress said that chicken can take longer and started to pour soy sauce over everything which I never asked for. THIS IS THE FIRST TIME IN MY LIFE THAT I DIDNT LEAVE A TIP!!!!! Ever. It was that bad. Consider other options. I have lived in the area for years and this experience is just unacceptable. Oh and by the way if you are an unsatisfied customer .. they give you a $60 coupon valid for 3 weeks during...
Read moreIf you want the best Korean BBQ experience in CT, you have to visit Gogi! Weâve had Korean BBQ before, but this experience was on another level! When weâve done Korean BBQ at other places in the past, the restaurants are usually really smoky, and though theyâre typically all-you-can-eat, you have to cook everything yourself. Sometimes I feel like I donât know what Iâm doing and that I couldâve cooked the meat better. Gogi is not an all-you-can-eat style restaurant, but I much rather prefer quality over quantity. We had the Butcherâs Feast for 2, which came with 4 different types of meats, each at 6 ounces: A5 Wagyu (the highest grade you can get - the marbeling was impressive), Bulgogi (boneless short rib), galbi (bone-in short rib), and filet mignon. Itâs pricey but well worth it. I was so glad that the staff came to our table to cook the meat for us, because they seasoned everything perfectly, and the restaurant wasnât filled with smoke! The meal came with a variety of traditional Korean banchan, or small side dishes, and we really enjoyed the fried rice. The staff even showed us how to make a traditional Korean lettuce wrap with our meat and banchan. Gogi also has sushi on their menu in addition to other Asian dishes, and we loved the chicken tempura & cream cheese roll we had for an appetizer. My fiancĂ© had a wasabi-tini that was perfectly spicy for him, and I enjoyed the mocktail they made for me! For dessert, we shared a chocolate lava cake and refreshing passionfruit & mango layer cake. Gogi really won our hearts - this was truly one of the best meals and experiences weâve had recently. Theyâve earned a spot as one of new favorite...
