Hmm. Interesting when I looked for this location on Maps that it doesn't show up with a pin, only Chipotle... stopped here Sun night, I let him pick this time, agreeing to a burger. We were only here once before, over 2 years ago. I wasn't impressed then, but this is about THIS visit. The first thing I noticed was the noise level- intolerable to me. The hoods going constantly along with the blaring music is just too much. We weren't greeted, just kind of stood there staring at the menu, I had to ask the employee if he was going to take our order... as we waited for the food, I couldn't help but notice the dirty tables, fries stomped on the floor, and grease smeared exit door. If this is what we see, what's behind that swinging door?! I understand there are pickup orders we don't know about, but they weren't that busy... I can understand why there were more people sitting outside eating than inside. Unfortunately for me, he wanted the food to go, which I already knew was going to affect it negatively. When we got home 15 minutes later, unpacking it from an oil soaked paper bag was no fun. I dare you to set it on your upholstery in your car(!)... I swear I could feel my blood pressure go up after half of their large cup of fries. Way oversalted! And soggy for the most part. They didn't look very appealing either, browned strange, I'm wondering if it was overused oil combined with too low temp...he got the double burger with the typical "all the way" toppings minus tomato, I got a single "all the way" plus jalapeño. He said his was "pretty good" but it was a slopfest with too much mayo. Mine was the opposite, not enough condiments, I could barely make out any ketchup etc. But it was STILL a squashy mess! And again, the salt. The jalapeños at least added a little crunch, but absolutely no heat in them...the tomato was the only other thing on it that added any texture. Coming in at just over 30 bucks for 2 burgs, and a fry with no drinks or extras, plus the fact that they are another place that likes to practice "guilt tipping" (he handed over more than $4.50 extra), $34.95 all told. I literally could have gone to a decent restaurant and paid for 2 burgers(which COME WITH fries) with much better results. Even if I chose to partake, those free peanuts aren't getting me back in the door. (They are also cutely sprinkled all over your parking lot.) But, again, it IS a chain, I will fork over my money next time to the little...
Read moreWent to the 5 Guys location in Wilkes Barre Twp pa today. I haven't been there since the store opened a few years ago. It was good then, but not now. The service was mediocre at best. It took about 3-5 minutes to be acknowledged, no greeting, just went to the register and stared at my husband and I. Ordered a bacon burger ketchup, mayo, jalapeno and light onion. The woman at the register didn't say much and looked bothered. My husband then ordered a bacon cheeseburger with ketchup and mayo and Cajun fries. No drinks. The bill was $38.00. My husband made it even with his tip. I got home and opened my burger, it was covered in a mountain of onions, hardly any mayo and I had to add my own ketchup. One of the burgers was so overdone that it crumbled apart when I bit into it. It was absolutely disgusting. I didn't even feed it to my dogs. I'm am so disappointed that a business that started out so strong has turned into this. In this economy, I work too hard for my money to be thrown away on this awful excuse...
Read moreAre you ready? I can tell you that overall I prefer franchise foods from the Dickson City area as they seem to take more pride in preparation than the same located in the Wilkes-Barre area. EXCEPTION: Five Guys in Wilkes-Barre, PA did a good job with my order. Burgers were fully cooked, but a little bit loosely formed as compared to all other Five Guys locations I've ordered from. The Large Fry I ordered was in the large cup but the bag wasn't bulging with fries like when I ordered from all other Five Guys locations. Whoever the local franchise owner is should stop at some other locations within 100 mile radius to discover what I'm talking about and ensure that this location does the same to ensure success. Happy employees + lots of food =...
