My family and I are staying in Williams this week while we’re visiting the Grand Canyon. We decided to eat here this evening after a long day of hiking and a glowing recommendation from Craig, our attendant in Coach Car E on the Grand Canyon Railway train. The ambiance and character of this place is great. Five stars all the way. There’s a great bar, games upstairs and a really nice outdoor seating patio, which is where we were. Our server told us it was his first night serving but he was great. I ordered a lavender lemon drop and it was delicious. Food came out quickly and he was attentive. The worst part of our evening was the young lady at the register at the front of the store taking to go orders. There’s a storefront when you first walk in and I’ve been collecting tshirts on this trip and saw a couple I was interested in. While we were waiting on our food I went back to the front to look around some more. I saw a tshirt and a sweatshirt I liked. The sweatshirt looked a little small so I asked one of the servers who was standing up front if the sweatshirt was an adult size or a child size because it looked a bit small. For reference, I wear an adult small. She told me they were adult sizes but designed to fit small since they were crop tops. So I picked up an XL and went to the register to pay for both items. The girl at the register was painfully slow and visibly annoyed at having to do her job. It took me almost 20 minutes to get back to my family and there was only one person ahead of me. When I got back to the table I tried on the sweatshirt and it was too snug for me to move my arms. Definitely not an adult size sweatshirt - crop or not. Right around this time, the manager came by to ask how we were doing and I asked her if I could return the sweatshirt because it didn’t fit. She made a concerned face and asked if there was something I’d like to exchange it for but said if not she would return it. I asked her just to refund me and she said okay. She was polite and accommodating. She took the sweatshirt and receipt and walked away. I thought she was coming right back but when she didn’t I went to get my receipt. Back at the front I asked the front register girl and another hostess about the receipt. They asked me why I needed it and I told them the manager said she would refund the sweatshirt for me. The hostess said she’d go get the manager for me and walked away. The front register girl stared at me, rolled her eyes and then stared at the wall. I followed her eyes to the wall and saw a small sign that said All Sales Final. No Refunds. This was the first time I saw the sign and it was the only one in the store. This policy was not printed on the receipt, nor did the manager mention it. We really enjoyed dining here, everyone was friendly and helpful, with the exception of the front register girl. Would recommend this spot to others but do suggest that front register girl be put to tasks that aren’t front of the house if she hates dealing with people as much as her aura suggested. And that the policy be made more apparent - please post it everywhere. I would not have purchased the sweatshirt if I’d known that...
Read moreI would give this place a 5 star rating for everything except their host. Considering that is the first contact a customer has it is important to have someone competent. Huge failure last night. A party of 10 so expected to wait. Asked for outdoors due to dogs (is dog friendly) and was told there will not be room for 10 at all. Dogs were left at rv park next door while we waited. I spoke with host approximately 15 times during our 45 minute wait. Talked about seating together, splitting the party, asking if she wanted my name for the group of 10, talked about their prickly pear beer, sampling beer and was even told we could drink at the bar or can sit out front just don’t go into the parking lot. Our group waited at the bar (3 of them) and out front on the benches 5(5 of them) and me and a friend waited inside by the host. She now called party of 10 follow me. We all followed although she had another group following her. She seated them. Yes they had just walked in 10 minutes before as a party of 10. We asked where we were sitting and she appeared to have ZERO clue there were 2 parties of 10 and began yelling at me how was she to know. Yelled at us why we didn’t follow her. We were right there behind the group that also followed her. Absolutely terrible response from this young lady. The manager appeared quickly and immediately put tables together and seated us. From here all was great. Server was perfect, dinner was excellent except a bowl of chili, a hamburger and a grill chicken sandwich was 30 minutes behind the rest of our meals. Those meals were excellent as far as taste but unknown why they took so long. 5 stars for manager, server and food quality. 0 for the host. That young lady should not be...
Read moreLet me tell you about this hidden gem, the Grand Canyon Brewery and Distillery in Williams, AZ. It’s a place that genuinely deserves way more than just an average rating. I’ve been to plenty of breweries, but this one? It’s in a league of its own.
First off, the ambiance is exactly what you’d hope for in a brewery. Think of it as stepping into a grand lodge, nestled in the wilderness. It’s cozy, welcoming, and has an atmosphere that makes you feel right at home. When I visited, our server, Jen, was the epitome of hospitality - friendly, helpful, and made our experience even better.
Now, the food and drinks here are nothing short of spectacular. I dove into a burger and fries, accompanied by a flight of their finest brews. Each beer was a revelation, but the IPA's and Amber stood out – absolutely delightful. My wifehad the fish & chips, and it was a hit.
Here’s the thing – they understand service. Every staff member seems genuinely happy to be there, adding to the inviting vibe. You can tell they enjoy their work, and it reflects in how they interact with guests. It’s a place where the service alone makes you want to return.
And the beers, oh the beers! As someone who comes from the land of breweries, I can confidently say Grand Canyon Brewery holds its own. They have an ever-evolving beer list, and their selection caters to all tastes. Whether you’re tired of IPAs or looking for something new, they’ve got you covered.
In summary, if you’re anywhere near Williams or even thinking about a trip, make a point to stop here. For both seasoned brewery aficionados and casual visitors, this place is a must-visit. It’s not just a brewery; it’s an experience – one that I can’t...
