We went here for the 55 cent cocktails to celebrate their 55th anniversary. I expected it to be fancy but it is not. We were the only ones in line to be seated and the hostess was cranky and yelled at us because we were at the podium and not in the que. We stood in the que, alone, for about 5 minutes and we're seated in a 50 percent full restaurant. We waited 10 minutes for any service at all. The waitress was very attentive and kind, however. And the busser/drink deliverer (Elmer?) was very friendly and even joking with us. Elmer gets 10 stars for being one of the nicest parts of our meal. I ordered the Nashville Hot Chicken with fries for $20 and my husband ordered the Chef Special of salad, prime rib, potato, veggies, and cheesecake for $42. The salad came with the choice of ranch or blue cheese. No other dressings. Then the waitress mentioned he could have a Caesar salad so he chose that. The salad was pitiful. A couple cherry tomatoes, a tiny cucumber slice, and wilted lettuce, with a cup of Caesar dressing on the side for some reason. Not good. We were not looking forward the entrees. To our surprise and delight, the entrees came out timely and were fantastic! My husband said it was one of the best prime ribs he has had. My Nashville Hot Chicken was very spicy but the addition of the perfectly creamy slaw made for a very satisfying bite! I usually don't care for restaurant fries but these were cooked to perfection and seasoned great! Then the cheesecake arrived. Oh my! Very good cheesy/creamy texture and taste with fresh berries on top! Yum! For the 55 cent drinks, you get about 1/4 shot of well liquor with choice of juice or cola. I guess 55 cents is about the value so I can't complain but don't come here for the drinks. In summary, it looks like food AND service is hot or miss. Prices aren't too outrageous but don't expect anything fancy. It has a casual diner/cafeteria feel, not cozy or romantic at all. The vibe is just...
Read moreUnfortunately our two visits to Sid Cafe were disappointing for two different reasons.
The first visit we were sat down for breakfast, each given a coffee whilst we decided on what to eat. It was almost 30 minutes until I had to call our 'designated' waiter to take our order. I'm quite sure the wait would have been much longer if I did not call them. Given that they assign a specific waiter to your table, I would expect us to be on his/her radar but unfortunately that wasn't the case. Other than that, the food was okay - nothing special and the prices are what I'd expect of a hotel so no surprises there.
Second visit for breakfast and luckily the wait wasn't as bad, but my fiance ordered French vanilla yogurt, berries and granola. Unfortunately she noticed her berries had mould on them so we sent it back and didn't order again. It's worth mentioning that we had a lovely waitresses serve us this time - very friendly and made us feel comfortable, I've forgotten her name but she mentioned she was from Louisiana. Some of the other waiters/waitresses could definitely learn and thing or two from her.
Overall it's just a bit disappointing for a relatively nice hotel in the heart of Vegas to offer such a poor service and mouldy food. In hindsight we shouldn't have had to pay for that meal since mouldy food is not acceptable by...
Read moreThis Cafe called Sid's it's beautiful and intimate. I had the best Sunday of my life there .It was deorated with peanut butter m & m''s & had added strawberries with lots of whipped cream and not too sweet at all surprisingly. But that's what made it better for me. My hat's off to Chef Desmond who created the Delight after a few attempts because of miscommunication but this Sunday was gorgeous and I'm going back
Kathy and Elsa also excellent at the front entrance podium. They were very patient with me especially since I had to return the sundae to get it right. Also they served the Sundae with a teaspoon and 2 straws & neither could touch the bottom to scoop it out that's why I'm giving it a four-star rating but a 5 * for patience and smiles and the best Sunday I've had in my life. Also the turkey club was very delicious. The curly fries that came with for very thin but tasty I guess it's rare to find thick curly fries anymore like the ones I used to make at my dad's restaurant when I was a kid over 50 years ago.
Back then we was huge Idaho potatoes that were probably a footlong and 5 in in diameter and hand crank and fewer curling machine mounted on the wall. I made at least 30 lb more several times a day.
God bless...
