Banh Mi MAMA — Restaurant in Hà Nội

So, I found myself wandering the vibrant streets of Hanoi's Old Quarter and decided to check this place out.. Now, let me tell you, the banh mi here is pretty solid, especially considering the wallet-friendly price tag.

The bread? Oh, it’s delightfully crispy & the fillings are fresh - flavorful. You’ve got your veggies, your meats, all playing nicely together. But—and here's the kicker—they threw an egg on my sandwich. An egg. I know, I know, some people love it, but for me, it just didn’t quite hit the spot. It felt a bit like a surprise party I wasn’t quite ready for.

The service was quick and friendly, which is always a win in my book. Just maybe skip the egg if you’re not feeling...

I chose this place because of the great reviews. The woman who served was really nice. The food was served perfectly for what it was. The seats out front are low and there are minibikes whizzing by on the narrow street in the old quarter. The baguette was warm and crispy on the outside. Because I was eating in, I got the dish and could make my own Bahn mi. Having said all that, I think I'd like to try other places around to see how it compares. Short of not handling ingredients correctly I don't know how you could mess this dish up.

Only downer, can of coke came out of the fridge with a bunch of stuff like...

In a nutshell, the food was good, although too salty for me. Especially pate, really too much.

As for the atmosphere, just a regular pavement banh mi shop. No parking space, so plan accordingly.

Service is definitely not for foreigners. Just typical local service.

Prices are more than fair for such area - 50k for a plate, which is great. Sometimes more distant shops ask 70k for the same portion. Everything was super quick, 3-4 min and the dish is on your...
