I think there a lot of fake reviews which give this hotel a high Google rating and a 9.6 on booking.com. In reality, the pictures do not match what they advertise. We initially booked a double room but when we checked in, we were very disappointed by the cleanliness of the room and bathroom (evidence pictured). We spoke to a lovely male receptionist who advised us to speak to the manager in the morning (Vivian I think). As it was my birthday and we were SO disappointed by this hotel, we decided to stay elsewhere for this night.
The next morning, we got a call from the manager which seemed almost accusatory in nature, telling us that housekeeping had entered our room and we hadn't stayed there overnight. We explained the situation and she told us to speak to her in person. We were then upgraded to a room with a window (for no extra charge) which was only MARGINALLY nicer than the initial room. Although we still were not happy with the quality of the hotel, we had two day trips planned to Ninh Binh and Ha Long so we decided to stick it out.
The bathroom had a constant smell of sewage, the AC took HOURS to work and even when it did it was never comfortably cool. There was mold everywhere around the bathroom and the hotel itself is very shabby. We didn't avail of the breakfast so can't comment on that. Overall I would give this hotel 1/5 for the location only but I am giving it 2/5 as the management did upgrade our room, and the male receptionist was very nice.
If the hotel didn't have so many fake reviews and inflated their rating online, and they had accurate pictures of what their bathroom and hotel looked like I wouldn't have been as disappointed BUT I also would have chosen another hotel.

From the moment I arrived, they were incredibly warm, welcoming, and attentive. They greeted me with genuine smiles, helped carry my luggage, and made sure I felt at home right away. Throughout my stay, the staff went above and beyond to assist me whether it was recommending local places to eat, arranging airport transportation, or simply checking in to make sure I had everything I needed. Their kindness felt sincere, not forced, and their English was good enough to communicate smoothly. One staff member even walked with me to a nearby pharmacy when I wasn’t feeling well something I didn’t expect at all.
The hotel itself is lovely located in a quiet alley in the Old Quarter, yet just minutes from Hoan Kiem Lake and many attractions. My room was clean, comfortable, and had all the essentials for a short stay. While the hotel doesn’t have luxury facilities like a gym or pool, the outstanding service more than made up for it.

Our bathroom smelt strongly of sewage, and even after raising this with staff, nothing was done to resolve it. The breakfast was poor, with very limited options, and the room itself was dirty.
The only positive was that the staff were friendly, but unfortunately this didn’t make up for the overall experience.
It’s hard to believe the positive reviews are genuine, as our experience was so far from what was promised. We booked this hotel as a “treat” compared to others on our travels, expecting something nicer, but it ended up being the worst hotel we stayed in.
We also had a very difficult time at the end and they tried to get us to not proceed with payment via booking and to do it with them for 15% discount. We said no so when they came to charge us they added a random 8% fee which should've been 3% for the bank charge.
We paid and later were offered a refunded amount in cash but on the spot they made us leave a 10 rating on booking.com. This explains why all the reviews on booking.com are...
