Thuan’s cuisine- Vietnamese restaurant — Restaurant in Hà Nội

NOTE: This review is for THUAN’s Cuisine / Phieu Thanh Toan at So 5, Nguyen Sieu Hang Buorn, Hoan Kiem, Hanoi.

In-door main-floor restaurant with good reviews but afraid I can’t say the same (though it appears that the naming of the restaurant is similar to another & therefore maybe confusing).

Service was good but not the food - except for the Pork Spring Rolls that is. There were 5 of them, nice and crunchy, tasty and well-filled, each one cut into half. They were so good that we ate almost all of them before I had a chance to take a picture. They came with a tiny dish of sauce but only one dish between two people - which was a struggle to share.

Lots of variety on the menu, seemingly, but I couldn’t choose / make up my mind, as many of the Vietnam pictured food selections appeared to have a disproportionate amount of onions in them. This was definitely the case with the ‘Bo cap can toi’, a beef, leak and celery stir-fry dish with steamed rice. There were ‘other’ veggies as well but an abundance of onions (which to me is a strong warning sign of pure laziness and lack of imagination). That was why I went with what I thought was a ‘safe bet’. I’m not a fan of ordering a steak in an ‘Asian’ restaurant but maybe one day I’ll learn my lesson. The Australian ribeye came with fries and lettuce. The fries were Ok I guess but became ‘soggy’ from the juice that accompanied the steak. The steak came pre-cut into strips, which, in retrospect was a warning that a regular knife would not have the ‘cutting power’ - and so, yes, it was not only slightly undercooked but tough and pretty tasteless in spite of its appearance of seasoning. We ordered 3 Saigon beers and a Chicken Noodle dish ‘to go’ for a third party and the total came to 855,000 Dong. A little pricey by Vietnam standards and very disappointing. This is one of the best restaurant we have visited in vietnam for lovely cuisine, not only the best food we had but also the best service from people in restaurant they were so loving and caring we felt like home away from home. Gia đình tôi 3 thế hệ định cư tại Singapore. Chúng tôi đến nhà hàng này ăn do Công ty Du lịch đặt!món ăn khiến chúng tôi quay lại là gà sốt chua ngọt và nem Hà nội ! Con chúng tôi thật sự thích món Âu tại nhà hàng này. Khách sạn chúng tôi ở ngay phố Lò Sũ Mỗi ngày 1 lần sang đây chúng tôi di chuyển bằng xe taxi mất tầm 7 s . Ai mà ngờ,đồ ăn ngon thật sự,đến 1 ng kén ăn như tôi cũng phải cảm thán nhg món ăn tại nơi này,cũng phải thốt ra hai từ hoàn hảo tại nhà hàng này.
