I loved Twan’s positive energy. Twan is one of the owners in this family business and this is their second coffee shop, after the roastery.
To start with, he is an excellent person to learn about local culture from. The coffee is great, the variety of coffees is very satisfying. He has a recommendation for every taste you are seeking. He’s open to new ideas, such as was very happy to learn how we make “Freddo espresso” an ice blended version of espresso originating in Greece).
To focus on the coffee, I believe he’s doing an excellent job in his roastery, we bought some coffee beans to have at home! He’s very careful when preparing the coffee, following the process to create the perfect brew. It’s one of the few places in Hanoi that you can find a great combination of local and traditional, with modern and European coffees.
The coffee shop itself looks amazingly cozy and welcoming, very clean and Twan’s presence fills it with positive energy. The feeling is heartwarming when it’s the first place to visit, the first person to meet in the morning.
If we ever visit Vietnam again, we will definitely be back and see how our good friend is doing. And whether he added Freddo Espresso in his menu!

Read moreOne of the best experiences I've ever had in Hanoi was having a delightful cup of coffee (maybe two) at Dream Beans, which is tucked in one of the streets in hectic Hoan Kiem district. I am impressed with the cleanliness of the double-storey coffee place as well as the variety of beverages crafted in their menu; reasonably priced as well! If you are feeling adventurous, do give the yoghurt coffee a try; your taste buds are in for a surprise! Extra credit goes to Long, the barista, who not only speaks good English, but also provides impeccable service to all of his customers. I'd definitely make a return trip to Dream Beans the next time I'm in Hanoi. Highly...
Read moreI was at the Central Market looking for good roasted coffee beans to take back to Malaysia and then realised that I be better off buying from a specialty coffee roaster. This led me here where I tasted a Latte. As I explained to Long the barista, coffee to me is a very personal thing just like wine. I found this latte made from Arabica beans very smooth n creamy, free of acid but lacking the body n slight bitterness that I prefer. On Long's recommendation i bought a packet of the single origin Blue sourced from Son La, on the NW region of Vietnam towards the S of Dien Bien Phu. I can't wait to taste it....
