Like many of their customers said previously, AVOID this place, 1/5, but I would give it -1/5 if I could. The only miserable experience we had in Vietnam in 2 weeks, and this place was it. It has 100% to do with the rude lady that shouts at everyone. I ordered the beef pho, and I knew it was off as soon as I received it. I ate it because I was staving, but my stomach was off the entire night, the only time in Vietnam that happened. If you are a customer, she makes you pay while you are half way through your drink or food, and then tries to get you out of the cafe to make space for new ones. It's ironic because the evening we went it was raining and not busy at all, we were her first customers, and we were thinking who are you trying to make space for, nobody is coming (except our large group of friends that were on their way, but she did not know that). She and her buddy at the cafe next door towards the street do not care about the safety of people, they just want them inside of their cafes as paying customers. I saw both of them be very racist towards tourists, and tell them to go away even though the train was coming towards them and they moved out for safety against the wall between their 2 cafes, but because they were not yet customers, neither of them wanted them there. Anytime I see a picture or video of the train street, I now think of this very hateful person, and the whole experience she ruined forever. Don't say we did...
Read moreMy visit to Café Ga Dong Duong in Hanoi was a truly unique and memorable experience. Nestled right along the famous Hanoi Train Street, this café offers an extraordinary blend of charm and excitement. The atmosphere is both cozy and vibrant, with the constant anticipation of passing trains adding a thrill to your visit.
The café itself is beautifully decorated with railway memorabilia, giving it a nostalgic and authentic feel. I found the coffee to be exceptionally well-brewed, with a rich and robust flavor that perfectly complemented the surroundings. The menu also offers a variety of delicious snacks and beverages, catering to different tastes.
One of the highlights of my visit was enjoying a cup of coffee while watching the trains pass by just a few meters away. This close encounter with the trains is something you won't find anywhere else, and it adds a unique charm to the café experience.
The staff were friendly and attentive, making sure that every guest felt welcome and comfortable. Their warm hospitality enhanced the overall experience, making it even more enjoyable.
Overall, my experience at Café Ga Dong Duong was fantastic. The combination of excellent coffee, a charming atmosphere, and the thrill of the trains makes it a must-visit spot in Hanoi. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a unique and delightful...
Read moreBeware of a scam!
In the bill they charge you 10x more for a virgin mojiot compared to what they have in the menu (120 000 VND vs 12 000 VND, see the photos). So when we asked about this, they said it's incorrect in the menu and that we should still pay 120 000. Which to me seems ririculous, especially since we had 5 of those drinks. A decent thing to do would be just to aplogise and pay back the money they charged extra, right? Didn't happen.
We spoke to 3 different waiters (and also to a manager? over the phone), but at the end they refused to pay back the difference. And one of them, the "street hawker" that got us to enter in the first place, became quite aggressive about it and did not want to hear the reason or our side of the story at all. And why is there a "Hanoi Railway tour" worth 130 000 VND on the bill? We did not order nor receive one.
So yeah, because they were so insistent it really smells like a scam. And even it weren't, for sure it's not how you handle this kinde of situation.
The place is just at the corner of a bigger street, crossing the railway so in a perfect spot to catch unaware tourists. Better avoid or tread with...
