Stopped here after seeing a massive local lineup. We decided to sit in and was greeted with a smile without speaking the language. We ordered the chicken rice and chicken soup. Both came quickly with the rice piping hot (like many places across vietnam, the meat is room temp as it sits out in the cart).
With the chicken rice, you’re served a small side soup that you can pour over the rice if you choose or drink separately. They definitely don’t serve mass amounts of shredded chicken on it so don’t expect western standards (let’s be honest, you’re paying $2... if you want more, order more chicken).
The chicken soup came out piping hot in a congee style. There’s amazing hot sauce on the side along with other condiments.
Overall enjoyable, not blow your face off amazing, but if you’re in the area and hungry - support local. Grab a meal, enjoy the atmosphere and try another spot later if you’re...

I paid like 30/35 for chicken rice, I had no problem with ‘tourist tax’ like others have reviewed. It was a nice way to experience authentic Vietnamese restaurant culture. The chicken rice seemed to be good (as it was very popular) and I finished my plate. It is a very plain dish though so don’t expect to have your mind blown. I enjoyed it with the chilli sauce and whatever the mysterious soup and cubes were on the side (I need to do more research). Also...

First night I ordered a plate of standard (shredded) chicken rice cost me D35k. Second night I gave it a second try and ordered a rice plate with chicken leg, hoping the meat would be better but it was not. It cost me D50k.
I complained since they practically replaced the shredded chicken with chicken leg. Their response was that was their price: a plate of shredded chicken rice cost D30K, chicken leg D50k.
The price ripped off is small, but it certainly leaves a bad taste. This is a problem with traveling in Vietnam, and in Hoi An the problem is...
