What can I say... When you scroll through reviews picking places to stay on your travels sometimes it can be hit and miss (fake reviews etc etc).
I can only echo, with sincerity and gratitude, the comments from previous reviews.
My plan was to have a fleeting visit to Hoi An (maybe two or three days). Ended up staying at Gito for 2 weeks!
Hoi An itself is a beautiful place and there is so much to do, from cultural visits, to cooking classes, to the beach (strongly recommend a beach day/ afternoon if you have the time).
But what really made it was the staff at Gito. I want to individually shout out Shane, Kyle, and Jerry who all were not only so welcoming but people you could genuinely have conversations and chill with (far above and beyond the generic "how long you travelling/ where you from" type questions).
Ask Kyle to show you his drawings (only found out how talented he is the last day!), make Shane sing at Karaoke, and challenge Jerry to a game of pool (if he puts on the glove you know it's game time!).
If there's anything you want to do in the city/ rent a bike/ different tours, the guys will help organise it for you and give you honest advice about what's worth it or not (i.e. not just try and sell you an experience for the sake of it). They also do really nice "family meals" twice a week and create an environment where if you want to drink/ party you can have a good time together but also those who want more chilled there's no pressure and you can simply head home after the meal. There is also a WhatsApp group chat where, in my time there, so many different things were organised and a great chance to meet people/ try new things (I did pickleball for the first time, beach days, trips to My Son, tea tasting, cooking classes, along with various meals out and just meeting groups at whatever bars etc they were at).
Being the hostel is less than a couple years old the beds/ accomodation is purpose built so comfy and has everything you need. Breakfast is also ridiculously nice (pancakes are a must and the fresh orange juice was gorgeous).
And you get all this for a very fair and reasonable price.
Genuinely only have positive things to say about the whole thing...
And just because I know he's going to hate that I haven't mentioned him... Shout out to Lucas. Average chat but he tries! (On a serious note, Lucas (and the team) thank you for creating such a great and welcoming environment and making sure there's always something to do and people are happy (I got to experience and see so much more thanks to you showing us around and joining on various outings). Genuinely wouldn't have stayed so long if it...
Read moreI adored Gito and extended my stay twice because I loved it so much - Lucas was amazing at helping me get in touch with the bus company and my next hostel. I was so heartbroken to leave and would stay months if I could - I’m thinking about my future travel plans to try make it possible to come back!
Lucas, Shane, Jerry, Kyle (& Pikachu) make everyone feel welcome and part of the family! I've never laughed as much and this hostel is the best l've stayed at out of Europe, Asia and Aus! The family dinners are so much fun as well as the activities we did together eg. Cycling around the rice fields, playing pickleball, getting a massage, singing karaoke and we had a quiz night when there was a typhoon! All the restaurants and cafes we went to were amazing too!
The hostel is super clean with big bathrooms and comfy beds, plus the free breakfast is great! All the staff are super friendly and the location is great - a 10 min walk from the old town so the area is nice and quiet. The common area is a great place to chill with a pool table and plenty of games/decks of cards and two toilets with showers if you arrive after a night bus and want to freshen up before you are able to check in.
Gito is a must-book when in Hoi an! I’ve made the best memories here and will be forever thankful to Lucas & the team for making my...

It’s impossible to explain what happens in this place in the middle of Vietnam. How can you feel like you are home with friends when you are all alone in a different continent away from your house?
I’m trying to find any kind of explanation but getting to the conclusion that it’s just a magic portal ♥️
This place it’s for far, the best hostel I’ve ever stayed in 5 months of traveling and even I can tell you everything is perfect about the accommodation (beds, room, clean, games, water, breakfast) of course it’s not about the objects.
It’s about the people.
Jerry, Kyle, Shane and Lucas make the most fun staff ever. The cookers, the cleaning people, even Pikachu the cat is friendly. I just spent a week waking up to their beautiful smiles and a good morning, and going to bed late because you just want to stick around them. They organize group activities so you will meet other travelers and everything it’s just basically so genuine. You can tell they like what they do, they have fun and they do it great. I fell in love with hoi an, made amazing friends and memories I won’t ever forget.
There is only one thing that it’s truly...
