I attended Gladiator 2 with a friend on 12/13 at AMC 34th Street 14. Seated next to me were two men that entered after the movie began and were on their phones through the entire first act. They did not care about my discomfort, but since confrontations in New York can be dangerous I didn't address it directly with them. The man next to me was using two phones at the same time, and his friend using one. Their screens were on and they were using them for 98% of the time. I finally couldn't take it anymore and went to the customer service desk, which was two levels down from my theatre. No one was at the desk and came to help, so I went to concessions. A customer service person finally came and told me she could give the men a warning. She told me I could sit in another seat - why would that be the solution? The theatre was packed and my seats were good, so I told her no and I initially walked away and refilled my drink but came back and clarified that if their behavior continued that I would have to again leave the theatre and come down two escalators (and up again) to address it? She said yes, but a man, who I learned was a manager, said he would take care of it. He went up an elevator to the theatre and I came up the escalator. When I entered the theatre he was leaving, and I returned to my seat and the men were both still on their phones, so I left the theater again to report them. Down to escalators, the manager seemed mad at ME and he again went up the elevator. I went back up the escalators and he told me that the men are not on their phones and that he wouldn't do anything except offer me a voucher, but I'm A-list. The men remained on their phone for the rest of the movie (including immediately when I walked in again), even though the manager insisted he would be checking in and removing the men if the behavior continued. Did the manager think I was making up the whole experience to inconvenience myself into missing 20+ minutes of the film going up and down escalators 8 times? What would it hurt for the manager to care about me as a customer as opposed to two men who weren't even watching the movie? Why on earth hesitate to take care of it? I really cannot understand.
This is obviously a terrible experience and the staff here does not care - and is clearly incentivized not to care - about the moviegoing experience. It's a shame that this is what AMC stands for why they wonder why their business is suffering. I will be transferring to Alamo Drafthouse where they prioritize the experience of seeing movies in a...
Read moreI used to give this theater 5 stars. Now it's down to 2. Reason being is because i am sick and tired of employees not knowing how to redeem promotions. I recently got a promotion from AMC investor connect for a free oreo popcorn. It CLEARLY says in the email that if oreo is not available then the guest would receive a free regular traditional popcorn. I went here last weekend and oreo was gone. I asked if i could have a regular popcorn instead. The first thing the guy at concession tells me is that the promotion was for gourmet popcorn only and that it could not be substituted. I told him that was not true and he told me sorry but no and that nothing could be done about it. 2 other concession employees who were standing there, including the manager told me the same thing. I told them i would bring up my email and show them. Then they gave me the regular popcorn. I HATE when people are quick to tell me "no" especially when i know i am correct about a promotion. Like how do these employees not know this stuff? Even managers don't know this. This is ridiculous and these employees need to be trained about how to use these promotions. It could save a lot of time from me having to get upset for no reason. What if other movie goers got the same promotion but did not know they could substitute, they were told no and then they just did not get any popcorn? I'm pretty sure that is happening. That's not cool at all. I go to the movies every single weekend, probably use A-list more than the average American. It is my favorite escape from every day life and i shouldn't have to go into watching a movie aggravated because employees are giving...
Read moreI've been going to Regal since the summer of 2023. I also had A-List while having regal unlimited. I've been paying for A-List since July of 2023 but haven't used it. Since I was in the area I decided to try out AMC.
My experience was good. My first Movie I've seen with AMC was Argylle. the staff was friendly. one thing happened that was weird. 15 minutes before the movie and trailers started the screen was white and it had an error message but they were on it fast and fixed it. I don't know if this was a known issue but to me it felt weird because I never experienced this with Regal. The screen was much bigger than the regal one I visited before. At least I felt it was big I don't know and the auditorium I was in didn't have recliners but the seats was comfortable. the seats was too close to each other so my legs was cramping up.
The popcorn tasted better than the one I had at regal and I also bought the coke zero vanilla which was delicious and I never tasted that before. I was originally supposed to go to the kipsy bay at 31st Street which was closer but the movie showing was at 12:20 I believe and since it was raining I didn't want to wait around. One of the reasons why I love regal because they have early showings. I was looking for the mean girls popcorn bucket which I was told they didn't have so I ended up buying the dune popcorn bucket which I was surprised because the movie didn't come out yet. My advice is if you are looking for the collectable buckets go into the theater because you might order it online for pickup and they might not have any. Overall my experience was great and fun. I highly...
