I’m giving this all five stars, but of course it needs to be understood that these five stars don’t equate to 5 stars as in a five star hotel. They mean that this hotel has maxed out on my expectations of a two star hotel. That’s what it’s advertised as - a two star hotel. It doesn’t pretend to be any more than that, however it is more than that. You don’t want to go here if you’re expecting spotless perfection. You go here if you want something different like an interesting atmosphere or a quirky experience. There are times for the five star hotels but they can become boring. My room was at the top of the house and as it was 30 odd degrees outside it was a bit warm but I managed by dampening the sheets and had a great night sleep with the windows wide open. Thankfully, I had my mosquito repellent. Don’t expect AC you won’t get it. This house is like a kind of shrine. I’m not catholic myself but I am a believer in Jesus. Still, I feel comfortable in places like this. There is a shady garden where you can sit outside and a convenient Greek restaurant a couple of minutes down the road. Breakfast is adequate and buffet style. Bernd the shy manager was accommodating and said nothing even when I accidentally overstayed by welcome by an hour helping myself to a second breakfast in the process. I recommend the place on hesitatingly especially for budget travellers and adventures with a thirst for life.

We stayed here recently and experience was good. Location is also nice very close to the bus stop and roaming within and surrounding the city is very easy if you stay close to bus stop. This hotel is very old as i heard from the staff it is 370 years old and it is still erected and maintained which is commendable. Few things can be improved like the quality of interiors utensils are also old few chairs were not fixed. Quality of usable things like towel was not good. One thing i appreciate is the service and behavior of the staff. They are helpful

This hotel was absolutely disgusting and terrifying. The worst part is there are bed bugs!!!! After only one hour in their bed I was covered in bites, couldn’t sleep for the rest of the night and ended up sitting on the bathroom floor just to stay away from it. It was a nightmare, filthy and unacceptable. I warn everyone !avoid this place at all costs! Horrible experience, never again. I strongly recommend everyone to stay far away from this place unless they want to experience a true nightmare.

This was absolutely the creepiest and worst ā€˜hotel’ ever. I was even afraid for my daughter and I to sleep The one night we were there. I honestly think that all their good reviews are either people That they have paid to write it or feel guilty.

The thing is the day before we arrived they sent us a personal message apologizing for the mess and that it was under construction etc and that they needed us to rate them an 8 or above. How dishonest! at first I said I understand and don’t worry… yet I don’t want to be dishonest about how terrible it was. I am reading old reviews from People And apparently they have said This for years ā€˜ sorry about the construction.’

First of all I do love quirky and old things…and religious things so that was not the problem. But it was beyond that/ It was very uncomfortable and dark, silent, dirty, rundown, junky, creepy ( random door covered up by a tapestry in my room ), or the neon lights in the night outside our door, or the headboard with a huge religious art over it but the Back of it was a window with a light on it. It was silent and odd.. i tried looking around and the staff came out and stared at me. It smelled musty / an old aroma that I still smell and had a mix of bizarre religious art yet had a sexual type of theme or the sculpture of the naked girl outside was also weird.

There is definitely something up with this place.. not sure what and don’t really want to know. Again, I don’t feel good about leaving a negative review but I have to be honest. There is something very creepy about This place and I wouldn’t go back if someone paid me. This should Not be rated as a hotel or restaurant -Literally Empty and no food or people Anywhere and the ā€˜hotel’ is more like staying at someone’s old house that you do not trust and want to get out ASAP.

Before you go there do not be fooled by the ā€˜authentic charm’ they advertise. Read the other questionable reviews, I know I’m not...

Best hotel stay ever! We stayed in a ā€œfamilyā€ suite with two bedrooms and one bath shared between the two. It slept five, but we had three people. As the owners state, the house is around 400 years old and also contains some very old furniture. To me, this added to the charm. I loved details like lots of windows with two-deep wooden frames. The rooms were clean and roomy. The beds were comfy. The bathroom was minimal, as they often are when they have been added to old houses, but it looked new and was clean. I saw that some people said that their towels were not changed. I did not know, until asking, that it is customary to leave your key at the front desk, as a signal that you need your room cleaned.

There is a courtyard to enjoy. One day, when sitting out there, a staff member came by and offered to serve us drinks, even though it is not a restaurant area (the restaurant was closed during our stay and I didn’t ask why). They are one of the very few hotels which serve Augustiner beer, which was my favorite of all the beers I tried in the area (Switzerland, Bavarian Germany and Austria). I even went down the hall and was able to enjoy a sitting room that contains some very unique antique furniture. There, I borrowed a German phrase book from the bookshelf. The staff were all very kind, I guess because the property has been in the same family who built it years ago. There were photos of family members around the house. It really is like staying in a friend’s home. I was there in early May and it was quiet. I was in the area for three weeks and this was my favorite place to stay. Oh, and it is a great location, as it is a short walk to a tram stop and also to the old part...
