Being Muslim, we’ve had our fair share of racially discriminatory experiences, but this was by far the worst we’ve had in Prague. Calling on all Arabs and Muslims specifically — I think you can skip the so-called “best pizza in Prague.” I can personally recommend far better Italian food in the city.
Buckle up because this is going to be a long one… Firstly, you apparently have to reserve in advance for a place with obvious empty tables, and the “package deal” comes with a hot, stuffy restaurant! We decided to sit outside, but the waiter with the worst attitude interrupted us while we were choosing a table.
We are a family of five and asked if we could sit at two joined square tables instead of two round ones. All tables are light in weight and could be easily moved around the open space. Two square tables were empty but not joined, and two joined square tables were occupied. We asked if we could join two tables to form a rectangular table with more room for our pizzas.
The waiter proceeded to talk to us as if we were illiterate and couldn’t understand the concept that the table we wanted to sit at (and add another adjacent table to) explicitly seats two people. We explained that we preferred the square tables to the round ones he was forcing us to sit at, but he wouldn’t budge. The table that seats four was occupied by two individuals and their bags. They kindly offered their table and said they were done anyway.
The waiter then turned red in the face and told them to stay out of it. He claimed he couldn’t add a fifth chair to the table because he wouldn’t be able to maneuver around the clearly open and spacious area. When asked what his problem was — since he was being blatantly difficult — he feigned innocence and went back inside mid-conversation to get the individuals who had offered to help their bill.
That place did not deserve our money, so we left for another restaurant with phenomenal service and truly the best food. This was an evident act of racial discrimination, and my advice to you, dear reader: if you aren’t a Caucasian, European, non-Muslim individual, don’t bother visiting — or visit at your own risk of being harassed, treated like an idiot, and belittled by their staff.
(Going through the lowest ratings/reviews, I found that many have had similar incidents with rude staff, bad/slow service, etc., and not much has been done to improve. And I stand by my statement: this place does NOT have the best pizza in Prague.) Would love the option of 0 stars, because they don’t deserve any! (:
—Edit: responding to owner— Thank you, Pizza Nuova, for replying to my previous review. To clarify, the incident happened outdoors, not inside the restaurant, and the issue is not about the reservation system.
The fact that people offered us their table and the rude waiter outright refused to seat us there to spite us goes against the restaurant’s values. It was blatant discrimination. And do you think that making such a scene about seating arrangements — to the point where people in the neighboring café were watching — is acceptable? Respectfully, you can’t convince me otherwise.
The system wasn’t “miscommunicated,” as you say — it was completely disregarded. I don’t think it would have mattered to add one more chair to seat five people. If it does matter, it’s a faulty system. The waiter also communicated just fine when telling people to stay out of it so he could get his way (to seat us at round tables when it was inconvenient to us).
We were in the beautiful city of Prague for only three days, and unfortunately, we encountered the worst of it on our last day. I appreciate the invite, but we’re not in...
Read moreWhenever we travel, we make it a point to seek out restaurants that hold the coveted Neapolitan pizza certification, and we were thrilled to discover this gem in Prague. On our first visit, the restaurant was completely full—always a promising sign—so we made a reservation for another night. It was absolutely worth the wait.
We ordered a Margherita with buffalo mozzarella, spaghetti carbonara, tiramisù, and a ristretto. The pizza, without question, was the star of the evening. It ticked every box of an authentic Neapolitan: a beautifully blistered cornicione with just the right leopard spotting, a light yet chewy crust with that perfect balance of airy interior and satisfying bite, bright tomatoes adding acidity, and rich, creamy buffalo mozzarella melting into every slice. The flavors were honest, balanced, and utterly addictive. If we had had the room, we would have gladly ordered a second one.
The spaghetti carbonara was tasty, though for our palate, the pasta leaned firmer than a classic al dente, making it slightly difficult to enjoy fully.
The tiramisù brought mixed impressions: the mascarpone cream was silky and luscious, with a nice cocoa finish, but our portion seemed scooped a bit unevenly — mostly cream with only two small pieces of ladyfingers underneath. The balance felt off, and we also didn’t catch much of the usual liquor note that lifts the flavor. While tasty, it missed that classic harmony of espresso-soaked ladyfingers, mascarpone, and a touch of liqueur. Hopefully just a one-off plating issue.
That said, we came for the pizza, and the pizza was, without question, off-the-charts exceptional. I would return in a heartbeat to savor it again and to try their other toppings.
The restaurant is charmingly decorated, laid-back, and welcoming. We were seated by the window, with a lovely view of Prague streets that added to the atmosphere. The staff were kind, attentive, and service was reasonably quick, making the evening easy...
Read moreWe usually enjoy eating at Brasileiro, so we wanted to try a similar experience with pasta/pizza all you can eat. I was very disappointed compared to Brasileiro, especially with regards to the price you pay for something that is in principle much cheaper than meat, I would expect a much better quality of food.
the service was very slow (we ordered drinks more than 30mins after we came). In the 3 hours we spent there, I felt like I barely had anything. unlike Brasileiro where they bring different foods in random order and you can order extra if you liked something, here we were told it’s a preset order and if we want a second serving of something, we have to wait for it’s turn. some courses we didn’t get at all (e.g. quattro formaggi pizza which I was looking forward to) and were told the other tables did and there was probably not enough left for us during that “turn” (excuse me but all the guests are paying the same price so this is ridiculous). Pizza came much more rarely than pasta and when we asked about this, the waitress argued that we have refused some pizzas and her demeanor was like “why are you even complaining if you don’t choose what we offer. I was under the impression that I am allowed to refuse pizza types I don’t feel like eating (e.g. spicy) most pasta/pizza options are very bland, almost no meat, only tomato sauce, pizza types such as margherita and marinara, I was expecting more interesting options. Pasta carbonara tasted awful and was VERY al dente.
the dessert pizza with nutella and mascarpone was nice
All in all I would say the degustation menu is not worth the money, probably better to order a whole...
