One of the 4 identical rococo buildings that makes up royal residence Amalienborg. Everyday in midday (12 PM) near the Christian VII Palace building there is Changing of the Guard ceremony. Many tourists come to see it, so need to arrive a bit earlier.

Four identical mansions consist in Christian VII's Palace which became Royal Family residence in 1794. Beautiful square with statue is a popular place for visitors all year round. Great photography spot. Guards changing ceremony must see!

Das Palais Moltke, auch Palais Christian VII. genannt, war 1754 als erstes der vier Häuser bezugsfertig und wurde von seinem wohlhabenden Erstbesitzer, dem Oberhofmarschall Adam Gottlob Moltke, besonders aufwändig ausgestattet. Der sogenannte Rittersaal des Palais gilt als eine der schönsten Räume des Rokoko in Dänemark. Der winkelförmige Garten hinter dem Palais entspricht weitgehend dem Originalzustand. Das Palais diente nach dem Brand von Christiansborg ab 1794 Christian VII. als Residenz. Nach seinem Tod wurde es hauptsächlich als Gästehaus der Königsfamilie genutzt, diese Funktion nimmt es noch heute regelmäßig wahr.

Bygningen er opført af lensgreve og overhofmarskal Adam Gottlob Moltke, der reelt var statsminister under den enevældige Frederik 5. Moltke var også præsident for Vestindisk-Guinesisk Kompagni, der i en række år havde hovedansvaret for handlen med slavegjorte, samt for Asiatisk Kompagni. Rytterstatue på slotspladsen blev finansieret af Asiatisk Kompagni og vidner om størrelsen af indtægterne fra kolonihandelen. Prisen på monumentet var nemlig intet mindre end 500.000 rigsdaler, hvilket svarede til cirka fem gange så meget som prisen på et af Amalienborgs fire palæer.
