I came in twice with my daughter to try on Doc Martens for her birthday. The first time was right before closing so we left before deciding between sizes because there wasn’t time to make a good decision. When I asked about the return policy, the woman asked a young colleague who repeatedly said that we couldn’t return the shoes if my daughter wore them outside. she refused to address me even though I speak fluent French, communicating only with her colleague. (And I of course know that you cannot return shoes that have been worn outside.) This same young woman was on duty the next day when we returned. When she saw me approaching, she turned around and walked away, saying something to another colleague on the way. When I picked up the boots to ask for a size, this new colleague didn’t wait for me to ask but instead immediately said that it was the last pair. When I told her that just the evening before there had been another size, she repeated that it was the last pair. When I again said that the size was there the evening before, she reluctantly went to the back to check and came back with the size I knew they had. We ended up buying the boots only because it was my daughter’s birthday and I didn’t know where else to find them although I always regret spending my money to support businesses with...
Read moreI purchased 2 designer men’s sweaters costing 290 euros and 220 euros each. One was meant to be discounted by 30 percent but female shop assistant forgot to give me a discount. As I was in a rush I didn’t realise she had forgotten the discount until I was about to board the train to Paris so it was too late to return it.My friend went back to the store and spoke to the shop assistant and she said she did not give me the sale price because I was going to claim VAT discount. This was not true so my friend ask to speak to the manager and the shop assistant simply said no! When I got back to Australia I realised that the security tag is still on the very expensive sweater I bought and I now have to work out how to get it off without damaging the sweater. Strasbourg Galleries Lafayette need to get professional staff in their designer men’s department as this woman who served me has cost me money and caused a problem for me to get the security tag off the expensive sweater...
Read moreNot that impressed with this Galleries Lafayette. In comparison to Paris it's quite underwhelming in terms of offering, with limited sizing, not that many things on sale even though it's Black Friday and overall not that many brands on offer.
I was especially appalled by the toilet situation. For a luxury store to even charge for toilets is absolutely ridiculous, but if that even has to happen you'd think there would be a ticket barrier, clear signage and an abundance of very clean and very luxurious toilets on offer. Instead you get a random cleaning lady asking for cash, only two stalls that are not in good condition and overall a dingy atmosphere that isn't even fit for a train station. Reading the other reviews this seems to be a common complaint and yet nothing has been done to fix...
