Best Japanese market there is by far in Germany! It’s big, got everything and even have a section where you can buy ready to eat food! I used to live near Düsseldorf and often come here to get cheap salmon sushi, inari, and other Japanese food. Now I live further fron Düsseldorf but when I visited the city this was the first place I went to and got my dinner from here. Still as amazing as I remember it to be but too bad there was no Inari left at all. Everything still tasted fresh and at night when they are somewhat close to closing time, they put discounts on this ready to eat food so it’s usually very cheap! A bento box or something like that can cost you only around 6€ which is a price you won’t find anywhere else. This time I got their salmon sushi, grilled unagi, and their Salmon Onigiri, all of them tasted great!

Will always comeback when I...

I made an online order three weeks ago but I have never received my order, and for the last week my e-mails were completely ignored. I was charged for my purchase, but no one provides any information to my items' whereabouts.

They provided a DHL tracking number initially, first they say the order was delivered to a different location order and got recalled. They claimed they sent it again, but I did not receive a new tracking number, nor did the existing number show any updates.

I tried to follow up but the shop went silent for a whole week as I try to ask for a refund if my items were indeed returned to the shop. Very frustrating experience.

UPDATE Shortly after posting this note, I received a response...

Shochiku is a Japanese Gem in Düsseldorf!

Stepping into Shochiku is like stepping into a little slice of Tokyo. Nestled in the heart of Düsseldorf, this Japanese supermarket is a haven for anyone looking to indulge in the authentic flavors of Japan.

The highlight, however, is the sushi-grade seafood section. It's a treasure trove for sushi enthusiasts, offering an assortment of fresh fish that's perfect for a homemade sushi night. The quality is unparalleled, and the prices are surprisingly reasonable.

But Shochiku isn't just about groceries. It's about the experience. The staff are incredibly knowledgeable and always ready to help you find that special ingredient you need to complete your Japanese...

Nice Japanese supermarket. Great choice of typical Japanese ingredients. Great choice of Onigiri en Bento. Onigiri is not common in Europe. It is pity as it is a very good alternative to sandwiches. They also have real Japanese mochi, I don't mind the Japanese style mochi from Taiwan but it doesn't compare to the real thing. In the freezer you also find a great variety of nato or fermented soya beans. Natto is supposed to be incredibly nutritious and linked to various health benefits. During lunch time you can enjoy a tasty, reasonably priced bowl of ramen. They also have customer card which gets you double points on Wednesday. This supermarket gives you a fair idea of how Japan is like. Enjoy the trip!

I really like this supermarket because it not only has a wide range of Japanese food products and snacks but household items. I bought my bamboo matcha brush here and it was comparatively cheaper than the other places I've looked at but quality also seems good as well. I love the takeout sushi variety. It's much better in terms of quality and authentic than if you go to a German grocery store like Edeka, Aldi or Rewe. They stuff their sushi with more rice than fish and there's barely any sashimi options. I for sashimi here and it's so much more affordable than of course getting it at a restaurant!
