Woolworths Auckland City, located at 76 Quay Street in the heart of the CBD, is a large and well-stocked supermarket that caters to the fast-paced needs of inner-city residents, office workers, and tourists. Open 24 hours a day, it stands out for its unmatched convenience, especially for those working late shifts or looking to grab groceries after hours. The store layout is spacious and thoughtfully organised, making it easy to navigate whether you’re doing a full grocery run or just picking up a few essentials. The range of products is extensive, including fresh fruit and vegetables, a decent meat section, pantry staples, frozen meals, bakery items, and plenty of ready-to-eat options for people on the go. The customer service is generally praised, with many noting that the staff are polite, efficient, and helpful—particularly during busy times. Self-checkout is available and tends to move quickly, although queues can stretch down the aisles during peak periods, such as after work or around payday. Despite its strengths, there are a few recurring issues. Some customers have mentioned pricing inconsistencies on advertised specials and noted that the store can feel a bit cluttered at times, especially when shelves are being restocked. Long queues during busy evenings are also a common complaint, with some shoppers saying they’ve spent more time waiting to pay than actually shopping. Still, Woolworths Auckland City remains a go-to option for many due to its central location, wide selection, and 24/7 accessibility. It may not be the calmest or most premium shopping experience, but it offers everything a city-based supermarket should: reliability, convenience, and a broad range of products to meet everyday needs at any hour.

Don’t ever go this supermarket! Bad experience ever! Had my items worth 1k NZD stolen at an Auckland countdown supermarket counter. Staff asked me to leave my belongings at the counter before enter, and when I returned, they were gone!!! I asked the staff to check the CCTV, and we saw the thief openly took my items from the counter! Their duty manager said it’s my responsibility to keep track of my valuables and they are not responsible. He even asked why I didn’t leave my items in the counter’s locked area which is inside the counter , which I couldn’t even access! CCTV showed the thief taking them, but the duty manager malkeet Singh refused to take responsibility. That’s a joke! They suggested I file a report and claim insurance, but the whole experience was frustrating. Be cautious when leaving your items with them!!!

We don't go there too often living in West Auckland but were impressed with the variety of fruits and vegetables on offer. Bought a watermelon which looked so good but what a disappointment - it was bitter. Even more, when we stuck a clever device into it, it showed the consistency of a 227mg of nitrates in 1 kg which is well over the normal dose of 60mg per 1 kg. No wonder the watermelon looked rotten next day. I think the procurement team needs to take a notice of this and not buy from this supplier anymore. This is harming our health.

An incredible dedication to providing the absolute bare minimum, while advertising themselves as a premium brand and pricing their products accordingly.

Product selection and variation is virtually nonexistent, with most options being either chicken or "chicken" in quotes, and any time you find a particular product you like it will almost certainly disappear from shelves before the end of the month and never be restocked. Pricing for said products is also almost always a solid 10-20% higher than New World, which is an infinitely better store you should absolutely shop at instead at every opportunity you get.

Speaking of pricing, the price labels are a confusing mess, a virtal desktop publishing hellscape that performs complicated mathematical gymnastics to tell you that the cup noodles you're looking at are a whopping 20c cheaper, assuming the there are even labels in the first place since the majority of the time they are either blank, for the wrong item or telling you the item you're physically holding is out of stock.

Hygiene levels are at a point where budding bird-watchers can get a kick out of observing the local wildlife nesting amongst the rice and pasta aisles, and allegedly there have been reports of rats running amok in the store. There are also frequently damaged (unsealed, broken open packaging) products on the shelves particularly in the frozen section.

Staff swing wildly from being too tired to care, very enthusiastic and cheerful, and downright antagonistic. I was once told "this isn't Pak'nSave" by a staff member who disagreed with my trolley parking, which I did not need to be told as I had already been tipped off to this fact by the quality of the service and my complete lack of desire to remain within the store.

The store layout is intentionally a confusing labyrinth of disappointment that is specifically designed to keep you as disoriented as possible in the hopes that you'll just start randomly buying things out of desperation.

Lastly, do not ever purchase anything in this store or any other bearing the Woolworths branding. The croissants are rocks in disguise, the pizza bread is burnt AND stale, the mac & cheese tastes like vomit and the sausages can only barely be considered meat. The cookies are nice though, when they aren't overcooked.

Absolute travesty of a store and brand, but I will continue shopping here anyway because there's literally nowhere else...

Woolworths is a supermarket that disappoints on multiple levels, failing to deliver a satisfactory shopping experience. Located conveniently, this establishment falls short in crucial areas that matter to customers.

One of the most glaring issues at Woolworths is its lackluster selection of hot food options. Unlike competitors such as PAK'nSAVE Woolworths offers a meager assortment of uninspired and often overpriced hot meals. The quality and variety simply don't measure up, leaving shoppers looking for a quick, satisfying meal option feeling underwhelmed and disappointed.

Adding to the frustration is the atmosphere inside Woolworths. The ambiance is marred by a continuous loop of intrusive, unappealing music that does little to enhance the shopping experience. The volume is often too loud, making it difficult to concentrate or even hold a conversation. Furthermore, the incessant barrage of promotional advertisements blaring through the store only adds to the cacophony, creating a chaotic and unpleasant environment for shoppers.

Beyond the auditory assault, navigating Woolworths' cluttered aisles can be a challenge. The layout feels haphazardly arranged, with shelves frequently poorly stocked or disorganized. Finding items becomes a scavenger hunt rather than a straightforward shopping trip, reflecting poorly on the store's commitment to customer convenience.

Customer service at Woolworths also leaves much to be desired. While staff are generally courteous, their attentiveness and willingness to assist often fall short of expectations. This lack of proactive service further contributes to the overall sense of dissatisfaction among shoppers.

In conclusion, Woolworths fails to meet basic standards of quality and customer experience. From its lack of appealing hot food choices to the disruptive music and relentless advertising, Woolworths struggles to provide a pleasant shopping environment. With competitors offering superior options and service, Woolworths fails to justify its place as a preferred supermarket for...
