✨ most important points before you go ✨
if you arrive by car, be sure to park at Interlaken Ost train station, as there is no parking available right at the Harderbahn
from Interlaken Ost it takes around a 5min walk to the Harderbahn
the Harderbahn then takes you up to Harder Kulm in 8min (with a two minutes stop right after departure for wheel chair users to get in!)
the Harderbahn departs every 15-30min depending on weekend/weekday, amount of passengers etc. check the departures screen upon arrival
tickets can be bought online beforehand or on site at one of the kiosks or the counter. even if you buy it on site, i would recommend buying a return ticket right away, as waiting times to get the tickets on top can be long
all dogs travel for free and do not need their own ticket, you can just take them with you.
waiting times can be long!! we came here on a Sunday morning and it went up every 15min (even though the SBB timetable said every 30min) - yet we still had to wait for 45min until we got on (it is quite small and cannot fit that many people)
make sure to get to the station well in advance if you have a specific time you want to arrive back down or at the top.
everything is straightforward and it's a quick and easy ride, one star less though as the waiting time was so long both ways (and there is no way to reserve a certain time, which might help with the orga) and there are almost no seating options within the furnicular, making it a little more difficult also for families with toddlers and...
Read moreHighly recommended if you enjoy mountains or high altitude scenic views. It’s not the tallest in the region, but definitely the steepest—lots of fun! Of course, this funicular (incline railway) should be combined with a short walk atop to the Harder Kulm observation area. Together, it’s a really great experience. Total time investment round trip is about an hour minimally if taking in some sights at the top (of course, you can stay up top as long as you like). You can purchase tickets online or in person. I did the latter and, as an English-speaking tourist, I had no problem. During the busy season, though, you may want to buy online because there is a separate queue for those with tickets already (which may be a shorter line). My ticket was 50% off using the Swiss...
Read moreA very strong recommendation to use it while going up. A small funicular which take you from Interlaken valley all the way up to Harder Kulm. The total journey time is just 5-6 minuets but it is absolutely worth it. It is amazing to see the steep inclination and the way the funicular cuts through the forests. You can see the beautiful Interlaken valley as you move up. The inclination is so steep that you can feel going against the gravity. While going up it is mostly empty and you find place but it gets too much of rush in the evening while coming down and you might face a long waiting queue and time. The staff is very friendly. Plan your return from the top in advance. You might have to wait in line depending on the weather and month...
