I was in the area and saw it was a 3 minute drive from where I was located. No plans on ice skating - but saw their schedule and a public skate session had just started. I got there quickly, plenty of parking, ran inside and got set up quickly. I haven’t truly ice skated in 20+ years, asked them to wish me luck!
The employees at the front desk were very nice and supportive and said I’d be just fine. Rented skates (my feet don’t fit the ones from when I was 9 years old anymore lol) and got to the rink and laced on up!
I had a blast! I went by myself on my solo travels this weekend. Everyone skating were very nice and I had a great time. The ice was very cold- but there were lots of grooves from the session. Joked if I could drive their Engo Ice Resurfacer(remember, Zamboni is a BRAND NAME! Not just the name of the machine!) - of course you need a special permit for it. We had a good laugh!
I didn’t get many pictures, except a lot of funny videos of me re-living my prior life of skating for a few years (7-10 years of age) before a knee injury took me out and I never picked it back up.
This renewed my passion for skating- I definitely will get back into it!
I didn’t fall- but realized I wanted to capture what I was doing so much- but holding a phone while skating could be dangerous, especially...
Read moreWhat a fine place to bring the family on the last day of our visiti in Breckenridge. This place may also be known as the Breckenridge Ice Rink, a Breckenridge Recreation Department facility located just east of the breckenridge ski resort area.
I was towed along with the grandkids, Uncles and Aunts to an "outdoor skating rink". I was looking to find the cute little skating rink envisioned in those quaint ski resort villages of movie yesteryear. Instead, I thought we were walking into the local hockey training facility when I was pointed in the back for the outdoor (coooooold) recreational area filled with kids, parents, and a couple of uncles dancing to a "Blades of Glory" skating scene. Sheesh, can’t take these guys anywhere.
The skating round and round quickly found that 10K feet is hard to skate like at sea level. A lot of gasping for air was going on. Also, the uncles and aunts commandeered the learning blocks from all of the young kids, and that mostly led to our dismissal and pointing us to the door.
Staff were cool. They need...
Read moreRink was good enough and modestly priced, good activity for a family of four. Low rating bc of horrible employee. Husband was given skates the wrong size, it fit too small when he tried it on, so he went back and politely asked for his size and the teenager working was extremely rude and questioned my husband, exclaiming to my husband “ these don’t fit!?” a couple times before he was willing to give him another pair of skates. We are adults with kids here on an hour time slot...we received the wrong size, just give him ones that fit, there was no benefit for us to go up here and lie and waste somebody’s time about whether a pair of skates fit or not. I’m not sure where they are finding these employees but maybe stop hiring rude teenagers that don’t seem to care about their job or how their attitude may impact their...
