We had a mixed experience. Renting gear, everyone was really friendly. I upgraded to a better board for $10 more a day. 3 day rent in total. On the 2nd day on the slopes, my bindings broke about an hour into boarding. I tried to keep going for another hour and then had to stop as was just too unsafe with the bindings opening whilst riding. Went to the North store as was closer to the gondola and got a really nice burton binding for the last day. When I returned everything on the last day and asked for a little bit of a refund as I could only board 2 hours on day 2 the manager (or owner not sure) agreed to give me $25 back which I appreciated. But instead of leaving it there and appologizing that the gear broke he was super condescedning and told me that "Going forward you should understand that this is the downside of snowboarding. Things break on the mountains all the time. You would know that if you had your own gear" I do have my own gear but didn't bring it all the way to Colorado. He then said "Well you would know if you were a proficient snowboarder" I've been boarding for 20 years and skiing since I was 4 (I'm from the Alps). He also said they can't check everything before they rent it out. If I pay money to rent equipment, I expect it to hold for the duration of my stay. 3 days and it breaks on day 2 and he tells me it's not their fault? What a joke. I look very young for my age (36) but the way this man spoke to me instead of just giving me the refund and appologizing for the inconvenience was beyond rude and I would not rent...
Read moreBreck sports didn’t have boots that fit us so we came here since it was the first place we saw driving in to town from Beaver Run. Renting ski gear should be easy when specializing in it and be a clear cut process.
Came in here and met Sarah, she was helpful and got me fitted in gear and during this visit our friend had a medical emergency so we left to take him to the ER. She set the rental gear aside for the next day.
The next day after the dust settles we go to pick up the gear. The two guys working had the personalities of a cactus and also my gear had been put back that I reserved so had to start over. The one worker made a comment while we were here that was just unacceptable as well.
Upon returning our gear, it was complicated and the guy working this day also had no personality. He could not care less about anything or anyone. Very robotic and claimed we didn’t return our pants that were clearly sitting on the counter. Then charged us extra even though we returned the gear earlier than we were told. They may respond on here that we are wrong but no, we went by what we were told and said something while here and they proceeded to charge us extra. I’d rather go give my money elsewhere when we are here on our next trip! I DO...
Read moreI bought a bike in Sept 2018 and not sure I would buy their demo bikes again. (I would get them inspected by a trusted outside mechanic before paying.) Took the bike to get looked at by my mechanic after I bought it and he said there was an issue with the fork. Drove all the way back to Breck from Vail to have the bike looked at by the mechanic at Avalanche and they told me I just needed to replace the rebound knob (that I did not break). They did not tell me that I could have the fork warrantied by Fox either. Turns out the damper did need to replaced according to Fox. I had a pretty bad injury on this bike in the fall after riding it 3x and I'm not a beginner by any means. Not sure it would have happened had the fork been working properly.
Just want future buyers to have all options as they did not give them to me and to be weary of the demo bikes they sell -- they do not fully inspect them or take care of the issues when you find them. Yes, they are demos, but that shouldn't justify letting a bike leave a store that is broken.
The owner Mark seems friendly enough, but not sure the staff is as knowledgeable as...
