We stayed in St Thomas after spending 8 days on a boat in the BVI and 3 nights in St Thomas on our way to the boat. We found this gem for our last dinner before heading back to the US. The main shopping district was desolate and we thought we were going to have another mediocre meal at another tourist restaurant… but NO! We saw a chalkboard at the end of an alley advertising $4 margaritas and $2 beers, so we followed the sign. We found the Stone house restaurant, the menu looked amazing, so we went in. They were closing within a half hour of our arrival, but served us anyway and the service was awesome (thank you, Sarah!!!). We ordered calamari and lobster fritters for apps… calamari was awesome! For our mains, we ordered the coconut crusted mahi-mahi, fish tacos and seafood pasta (fra diavolo ). All were amazing. The mahi was especially fantastic, the best mahi-mahi I had in the 10 days we were in the islands (and I had mahi almost every day). Finally, we ordered the pecan pie and chocolate mousse desserts (only because they had run out of the creme brûlée) and finished them both. The owner is a lovely woman that makes them herself. Absolutely fantastic and beautifully presented. I am a wine drinker, and they had an extensive wine list … all at reasonable prices. The food, service, ambiance and prices were the best we found on our whole trip. You should not miss this place if you’re in the islands!!

We were actually looking for another restaurant, and when we asked a local for the location when we couldn't find it, he recommended Stone House (his shop is directly across the street) explaining to us he eats here most days after work. His recommendation was good. We started with two specials that the server said were things that the chef just "thinks up and adds to the menu daily". The two we picked were a scallop salad - (3 delicious scallops, if only a bit overly salty) dressed with a sesame/sweet sauce and some crispy tortillas that reminded me of the bag of deep-fried chips that typically accompany wonton or egg drop soup at a Chinese restaurant - and a braised rib stuffed with peppers. Both were good but the scallops were better, in my opinion. For our entrees we tried the NY strip Cheesesteak and Fried Chicken Sandwich, both with fries. Some places advertise high quality steak but it's just chop/steakums - this place used real sirloin. The chicken sandwich was great but had a lot of julienne greens (more than I liked). I did appreciate the soundtrack - which appeared to be playing over their TVs with tracks listed - that included Hotel California, Dust in the Wind, and other 80s era hits.

What an amazing recommendation from the locals, I was looking for a place to eat and do some work, AMAZING service by Devon, never met someone from the islands as polite and respectful. The food OMG what a delight! I can safely say is one of my favorite places of not the favorite in the Caribbean. If you stop by, try the sliders believe me it’s Tri bond taste of heaven, I also had the shrimp tacos, let me tell you I hate coleslaw, but some how I loved it!!! And I actually got the hamburgués as well, YES YHATS HOW GOOD EVERYTHING WAS! For drinks I had 3 painkillers (yes I know is not what the doctor recommended but painkillers sounded good). One of the best experiences I have had in the Caribbean. To get here from the cruise port if you’re adventurous you can walk but it can get REALLY HOT as there is no shade, so comfortable shoes, sun protection and water is a must otherwise get a cab. But believe me, the food onboard ships is great but let’s be honest, after a while you NEEEEED something like this. I hope this short review helped you all! P.S. I had the burger with mash potatoes because I really don’t like fries and OMG was my top 3 favorite smash I had in years!

This is an update to my review in response to the restaurant’s reply below. The situation was more than just an insult, and I request a response from the owner if I did not speak to the owner (manager’s response was inappropriate). I wish I could give ZERO star.

The mistake was caused by your restaurant staff, not by us. Due to the location, we were unable to return and pick up the missing item. If the mistake was on your end, the proper resolution would have been to deliver the missing item. I raised my voice because your staff did not treat the issue seriously, dismissing it as something minor—just a salad or a refund.

I was deeply disappointed, especially because we primarily eat salad, and the food we received was overly oily, making the salad even more essential. I did not “blackmail” or “bullying” anyone. However, if I had to go back to pick up the salad or refund, we expected some form of compensation, as the situation was avoidable if no mistake had occurred in the first place. Using the word “blackmailing” and “bullying” is more than unacceptable, insulting or discriminatory.

Sending such an insulting response to a customer is unacceptable and reflects poorly on the restaurant’s attitude toward resolving issues. I hope the owner addresses this matter appropriately.

24/12/24 picked up a cash we paid. No apology, nothing.

(Original post) Please avoid eating here. We ordered takeout, including fish tacos, bacon and pineapple fried rice, and a house salad. They charged a takeout fee, and my husband had to climb a steep, hilly road to pick it up and return. When we sat down to eat, we realized the salad was missing, even though we had paid for it in cash.

We immediately contacted the restaurant about this deceptive practice. The bartender (Cheyenne?) admitted they forgot to include the salad. I requested that they deliver it since my husband could not walk back, but she refused. When I spoke to the owner, she offered only two options: a refund (which we would need to collect in person, as we paid cash) or the salad itself (I need to go there) - nothing more.

It’s disappointing that they failed to acknowledge the inconvenience their mistake caused and showed no willingness to provide proper compensation. The food itself was mediocre—very oily and unhealthy. Save yourself the trouble and do...

TripAdvisor reviews were awesome so off we went. Last night on St Thomas. We arrived around 7:30pm after the big parties left. I believe there were a total of only five tables when we were there. According to the receipt, Taylor was the assigned waitress but really the bartender was our waiter. She gave our table very, very little attention then to charge an automatic 20% service fee (read forced gratuity) because “you know, everyone needs to make a living” was the response. Agreed but do your job. It’s customer service. Lazy. I asked for water for all of us nope, had to ask bartender when he delivered the drinks of which she took the order. Each person in our party ordered an entree to eat with our hands. Offer of extra napkins would been groovy and intuitive nope. Had to ask bartender when he took and dropped off the second round of drinks and also asked him to refill our water glasses. How about a dessert menu? Nope again. Whether you do a good job at customer service (or not), wait staff still gets 20%. I hope Taylor shares the tip with our REAL waiter, the bartender. $213 gets you good food for four (crispy chicken sandwich, fish tacos, meatball sub, shrimp scampi), six drinks (we ordered frozen margs in first round, however we received on the rocks) and two apps (chicken wings were terrific, crab stuffed mushrooms were just okay). Service tanked the overall review! PS, the musician is talented....
