I have been holding on to this review since Mid January in an effort to make sure I was not overreacting or just reacting a bit emotionally as I work in customer service and know these reviews can often make or break a company but I felt it was necessary to put the info out there so others can make an informed decision. To start with I stayed at this resort for a conference and received a "discount" upon booking. I paid at time of booking but somehow ended up never actually getting charged so I had to pay upon arrival. At check in I gave my card info as normal and went to my room (check in itself was fine I was just done in from travel) which I was under the impression I was supposed to be in a single King size room but was put in a double Queen room but since I booked through my conference's website I couldn't pull up the booking beyond just finding a room for 6 nights was booked. When I arrived at my room I noticed how warm it was and wrote it off as its Florida, of course its warm, I assumed that as the day ended the temp in the room would cool. I also noticed what appeared to be a water bubble in the ceiling right over my bed that luckily was dried out (yes I touched it because I didn't want to have water all over the bed, but when I touched a piece of the popcorn ceiling fell off). I called down to the lobby to inform them of this as I didn't want to have anything blamed on me at check out and was offered a new room which I DID decline at that time as I had just dealt with a very long day of travel and delayed flight and missing lyft drivers etc and I had just unpacked so I didn't want to have to deal anymore. Fast forward to 12:30 at night when I woke up sweating (I'm from Houston, TX the environment and humidity is not dissimilar to Florida) I reluctantly called down to see if someone could come in and fix it (I was a female traveling alone and I didn't want someone in my room in the middle of the night) and luckily he was able to come in and fix it and I was able to rest the remaining few hours before my classes started the next day. The next day I learned that the elevator in the next building over (I had friends that ended up at the same hotel) was broken and multiple people with physical disabilities were being forced to take multiple flights of stairs to get to their rooms as they "had no other ground level rooms available". The next day after that I came in from my day of classes and noticed that housekeeping was in my room so I went to the cafe for dinner and to hang out by the pool bar to give them time to finish their tasks for about an hour to an hour and a half. When I arrived back at my room the maid cart was gone but MY DOOR WAS OPEN! I called down and asked what was going on and what could be done to make this right. (Mind you by this point the AC was broken, the door left open, broken elevator and staff members being rude/dismissive as well as telling all of the conference goers ALL of the wrong information) The person in the lobby told me I would have to talk to a manager and the only way to do that was to go in person to the lobby so I did. The manager kept asking why I turned down the original room move when I arrived and I explained that I didn't want to deal with it after the travel day from hell and that I was scared I'd end up in another room with no AC. She was only willing to relocate me in a new room which at this point I felt was minimum they could do since it was a safety issue with the door not closing. They "upgraded" my room to a single King room (if you recall I was sure this was what I booked anyway). I asked if there was anything they could do additionally and she said no that I already got a discount when I booked through the conference website for the room. **The only discount was I think a $10 resort fee per night**

The only positive thing about this stay was Damien. He was wonderful and very helpful each time I encountered him. The rest of the experiences with this hotel were absolutely horrible. It’s called a resort but is absolutely a low grade motel. My stay was Friday 1/24 through check out on 1/29 for the VMX conference. On 1/25 we reported to the front desk staff that our thermostat was broken and requested it be fixed. We also requested the room refresh service to start since that is not a complimentary daily service provided anymore and you have to request it with 24 hours notice. Sunday after returning to the room after a long day, it was discovered that the room was not refreshed. There were no clean towels, the garbage was not removed. Now normally that wouldn’t be a huge deal but the shower leaked all over the bathroom floor and the towels were used to soak up all of the water. The thermostat also was not fixed and the room was 65 degrees. So I went down to the desk to see if something could be done and ask for an extra blanket. This is when Damien gave us the 5 towels to take up ourselves and let us know he would let maintenance know about the thermostat again. Shortly after returning to our room, a blanket was delivered. Within a half hour someone from maintenance pounded on the door and ripped the heating/cooling unit out of the wall and put another one in. The amount of noise he created was obnoxious. He also left a pile of metal shavings all over the floor for us to clean up. But there aren’t cleaning materials in the room so one of the dirty towels was used to push it against a wall. Later that night I went up to get ice, there are no bags to go in the ice bucket, again not a huge deal. But I put my hand on the inside of the lid and it slid all over because it was greasy. Absolutely disgusting. The inside of the ice machine down inside under the grates was black. Monday comes and we get back from our lectures and our rooms is STILL not tended to. So we call the front desk and they inform us that cleaning is set up for Tuesday. When we informed them we had called several times to have the room refreshed they simply said they would speak to housekeeping and see if they would be able to push it through that night. They didn’t. Come Tuesday the room was finally ‘cleaned’ if that what you’d like to call it? But really the beds were made, they took our dirty towels, gave us new soap and swept up the metal shavings left by maintenance. They definitely didn’t sweep, mop, take out the garbage or change the linens like their email said services would include. We checked out today (Wednesday) thank goodness. But the floors were so dirty that literally walking around turned our feet black. Two of us had to wipe our feet off on a wet towel this morning before leaving just to put our socks on (it left black marks on the towel). I brought all of this to the hotel manager’s attention and she just said she’d pass the informations to the managers of the departments and then did a insulting refund compared to all of the issues we had. This hotel definitely advertises services they do not meet. The rooms and premises look nothing like they do in person. People beware. You’re wasting your money staying here.

I would like to share my experiences staying at Avanti International Resort in Orlando. I came to Orlando with my family who were visiting me from my country. The first day we arrived at the hotel at noon. We decided to use the pool for a couple of hours before we check into the hotel. We checked in and we got ready to go to Disney Springs. The following day, we left the hotel very early at 7am for one of the Disney Parks. We returned to our room around midnight. Our room was cleaned, stocked with clean towels, and noticed the pool towels were not picked up from the floor. The following day we went back to the Disney Parks and returned late to the hotel. This time we found the room was not cleaned and the same pool towels were still on the floor. We called the front desk to complain. The hotel receptionist was rude and said she could move us to another room. I told her she must be joking. I then realized the hotel receptionist hung-up the phone. I decided to go to the reception to speak to her in person. When I asked her why she hung-up the phone on me when all I wanted was some clean towels. She told me, I screamed at her, and this is why she hang-up the phone on me. She still refused to give me clean towels. A lady, who was behind me, also said to her, give her some clean towels. I asked for the manager on duty and the hotel receptionist called the security officer on duty. She was very nice to me and she apologized and gave me some clean towels. The security officer suggested I talk to the manager in the morning and explain what happened. The name of the night shift receptionist is Francine. The next day, I went to the hotel reception desk and spoke with the assistant manager, Stefanny. I spoke to her about my incident. Stefanny was very apologetic, and she made me feel like a guest at their hotel. I showed her the pictures I took with my cell phone to show her how our room was not cleaned along with the pool towels still on the floor wet and smelly. Still nothing was done to the room. I ended up taking the pool towels along with some white bath towels to the corridor of the 3rd floor. Around 5 pm, a nice woman with a small cart came to my room and she offered me dry clean towels and asked me whatever I needed to let her know. We took our showers and left the hotel for dinner. When we came back the safety deposit box in the room stopped working. We discovered they used masking tape to hold the batteries in place. I called the front desk, and they informed me that the engineer would not be available until 7 am the following day. It turns out, some of us were leaving for the Orlando airport at 8:30 am. The engineer arrived at the room at 8:15 am. He was able to open the safe so we could get our belongings. We almost lost our flight. We had experienced too many issues with this hotel to want to book another stay with them. The hotel needs many improvements done and they need to add more staff. From this experience, I would not recommend this hotel.

We were given a room in the newly renovated Block 2. It was on the ground floor, right on the end next to the highway. Right outside the room there was a noisy generator humming constantly. This, combined with the traffic noise made it very difficult to sleep. The pool area was noisy every night long after 11 (when it closed). One night we were awakened by a group of rowdy people shouting and banging on our door. Then another night we were woken up by two people arguing loudly right outside our room. Security seems to be non existent at this hotel, anyone could just walk around. We’d been there 4 days and our towels hadn’t been changed and room hadn’t been cleaned. We went to reception and asked how often are our towels supposed to be changed and our room cleaned and we were told towels were supposed to be changed everyday. We then explained it had been 4 days and we still had no clean towels nor had our room been cleaned. They said they’d send some towels over right away however there was no apology from the receptionist. We were then told that to have our room cleaned it would cost us $30 each time! Nowhere in our booking were we informed of this bizarre and downright backwards policy, otherwise we’d have decided not to stay here. I feel, and i’m confident i can speak for many others on this, in that cleanliness should be the bare minimum standard met by any hotel especially in a post covid world, not to mention that this is a Universal partner hotel. Our room was not cleaned for our entire 14 night stay and neither was it clean when we arrived. The floor was disgusting. So much so that we had to walk around the room in footwear or lay towels down. Throughout our stay we had to ask reception on 4 occasions to change our towels. There was never an apology. You should not need to keep asking. The “newly renovated” bathroom was showing spots of mold. We also noted that their free shuttle information in reception was wrong after one night we found ourselves stranded at Universal. We arrived at the shuttle bus return stop 10 minutes before the time stated on the hotel information kiosk. We waited for the bus for about 20 minutes, before being told by a member of security that the last bus to Avanti International Resort left over an hour ago. We then had to pay around $30 for a taxi due to being misinformed by the hotel on their own shuttle service, a service that we had paid for as part of our resort fee. Another minor thing about the room, in a post covid world, the very least you would expect in the rooms in hand soap…but there was none. Wouldn’t recommend this hotel to anyone, although the bed was relatively comfy, we wanted, and rightfully expected, a clean room to come back to after busy days, but this was not the case. Very disappointing.

At the Avanti I planned a 5 day trip. Upon arrival I requested extra towels be left in the room & there wasn’t. The room looked like it didn’t get cleaned there was a leakage from either the AC or the refrigerator when we arrived. I also went into the restroom where it looked as if it wasn’t swept or mopped the floor still had the previous guest hair in it. I asked for another room at the front counter & the lady told me that she would have maintenance & housekeeping come & check out the room while me & my family went out to do other things. Upon my arrival back I went into the room & they mopped up the floor where I believe the AC or refrigerator was, but it still wasn’t clean, so I had went back up to the front desk & demanded another room & that’s when I got it. I noticed a lot of the house keepers don’t speak English so it was very hard to communicate with them. I found for most of my stay that I would clean my own room because of the language barrier, but the housekeeping ladies that I did talk with they were very helpful. I didn’t get my extra towels so I just took them from the pool area or whenever housekeeping came around just snagged a few from them. I also feel like the times that me & my family were out & I’m talking about hours to come back & our room still wasn’t clean or our beds wasn’t made was insane. Also for the breakfast that I had paid for was insane. You don’t get what you pay for it was like the food was bland & didn’t have any taste so that was a waste. I feel like you’re better off just going to a restaurant everyday because the breakfast sucks & you can only get 1 thing off the list you have a choice between orange juice or coffee then you have a choice from a breakfast burrito now when they say breakfast burrito I’m thinking something with egg cheese & some type of meat, but no there breakfast burrito was with just egg & cheese it taste like the egg they served was straight out of the bag the pancakes were thin as wind. The breakfast sandwich was the same way with just egg & cheese just toasted it was really gross, but you’ll think that at that price we could’ve at least got a continental breakfast. I know they have enough money to even put waffle makers in so we can make our own.The selection they have sucks. I hate that I wasted my money on adding the breakfast because it was NOT worth it. I was on vacation & very disappointed. The Avanti location is what sold me because you’re right by everything, but other than that if you can bring your own food.
